Boy Scouts of America at Speedweek
« on: August 03, 2010, 10:58:48 PM »
Okay, I'll ask Dan to back me on this one.....

According to my instructions from Russ Ayres..... any scout or Scout Master in uniform or showing their BSA membership card will be given a free pin at Land's End.  I will be writing down their names so that we know how many Scouts show up.  This will work just like active military....they will get the free pass, but anyone else in the vehicle will have to pay the spectator fees.  The pin does not mean that they can DRIVE into the pit area once racing starts, without the proper window sticker, they will still have to walk into the pits.

Sorry it has taken so long to let you know, but there was much confusion over all of this!!!

I hope this clears things up.....(to your eyeballs.....in mud!!!)   :-D    sorry, couldn't resist!!

Lynda

Thats the way I understand it from my conversation with Russ this evening. The id card must be "current", whatever it looks like.

No one told my troop about that when i was in scouts as a kid. I could have been bitten with the land speed bug much sooner, and my troop had 3 or 4 career mechanics as assistant scoutmasters that would have given support and encouragement. Scouting offers many unique opportunities and encouraging them to come and watch people chase their dreams is a good way to keep land speed racing alive well into the future.

Kids 12 and under get in for free anyway!  So the passes would be for people 13 and older.

I understand the Girl Scouts and the Campfire Girls are filing a class action suit.

Perhaps they can trade cookies for pit passes.

I never claimed to be a cub scout!!   :-D  Don't know why the quote thing didn't work...it does that to me periodically.   :?

Anyway, the tires will be here next Friday!!!  Hurray!!  As far as moving...yeah, kinda...I'm back in Utah, just haven't found my own place and a job yet, but things are looking up.

You will be missed during Speedweek...at least, I'll miss you, don't know about anyone else!

Have a safe trip to...is it Germany this time?...stay safe where ever it is!!  See you in October
