Title: Clutches or Transmission?
Post by: Vortex1 on November 09, 2007, 06:47:57 PM
I'm using a snowmobile engine in my lakester and I plan on putting the variable ratio belt transmission on it. I have not seen any thing in the rule book that says snowmobile clutches are prohibited. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Comet clutches have been used at least since 1976, probably longer.  There were at least 2 vehicles running them this year...

It is good to know someone else is running belt drive clutches out there. Ill be using a billet primary and secondary so they should be plenty strong.
Thanks Stainless.

For belt drive clutches, this is an unabashed recomendation for HRD in Rialto, Ca. There may be two or three people in the world that are more knowledgable on variable belt drives but HRD's Harold Holladay is probaly the most no-nonsense and practical individual out there.

He has a website.

If you deal with him, DO WHAT HE SAYS!
