Yes, I did a bunch of number crunching to determine the bobweights required on #2 & 3 rod journals to zero-balance them. It looks like making the weights from steel would be problematic to clear the inside of the crankcase. So more scheming  is needed- perhaps lead-filled steel weights? Or disregard potential value of the crank (as a four cylinder) by cutting away some of its #2 & 3 counterweights. :?

The 3-disc CrowerGlide and flywheel are very heavy, which will help with torsional considerations.

The new electric temperature gauge I just installed with the sensor right at the head should allow me to avoid too much heat in the head before turning the pump on. The needle starts moving at about 100 degrees F. :-)

Regarding warming up the water I am a big proponent of using the BMW 320 3 way thermostat. It circulates the water in the head and block until it reaches it's temp setting and then opens to let in cool water either from a water tank or radiator. I have seen this applied to some high power small blocks with good results. All that being said I still haven't put one on our lakester motor!

With the one and four cylinders being the ones of choice do you have thoughts of adding any counterweights to the 2 and 3 cylinder areas of the crank to reduce the shake?
Run a heavy flywheel.

As usual, progress is slower than imagined.
Cylinder head ready to go, patched up to not leak any coolant.
Cracks in block TIG welded, but stress (of detonation and of welding) caused #2 main bore to be out-of-round and oversize. So I used my "pseudo align bore" contraption to bore it round again, at .030" oversize. The #2 main cap isn't distorted, so I'll just use .015" brass shim stock under the block's #2 main bearing half.
Instead of sourcing a smaller blower, I'll run the 14-71 very slowly- 19% of crank speed. This required building a jackshaft for two stages of belt reduction drive, which is ready to go. 30mm wide belts in place of the original 3".
The crank is still at Moldex, don't know yet if it can be used.
Regarding the ugliness in the photo- the stresses destroyed the tight press fit of the lower ends of the steel sleeves, so a bunch of JB Weld was needed to close coolant leaks.

Items Wanted / 15 Inch Moon disc

WTB good used 15" Moon wheel discs,

Also interested in Jig for mounting tabs as well.

Yes, I am aware Moon has these brand new. However, I am going to be machining the used ones, and I really don't want to cut up brand new ones.

TIA,
Clay
