just to be able to dream is a gift . Few people appreciate .I spend my days dreaming of my next run.
Hoping everything comes together and I can go faster than my last run.

I am with you Deb----I just wished I would have been smart or even dumb enough to move to CA right out of High School---then I could have been doing this for nearly 50 years instead of 8-----lol

Sparky, you don't have to live in CA to do this (although it helps).  I know folks that have done this for 30 to 40 years and never lived there.
This was my dream when I was 14, reading about Arfons, Breedlove and Arfons battling on the salt.  I wanted to do that someday.  Got the opportunity to work on my first Bonneville car in 1972 when I met Ben Jordan in Denver, a Citroen SM.  Was able to go to the salt in 78 and was hooked....

Man, this most of my bucket list, finishing up my coupe picking up my gradson and driving to Bonneville, and watch his eyes get big when we hit the salt. And I let him drive, to just enjoy the sounds of the cars arcoss the salt, heaven I think it is, and enjoy another wek on the salt with someone that has not been around LSR.
Everytime I get a chance and get into the garage and get to do something on the car, and it works out the way you want, it is dream come true.  Getting these couple of things done and I can be content. Of course being able to make a pass would outstanding.

Enjoy the day.

Wow, dreams DO come true!

Well, mine is shared with my dad.  I've always wanted to race at Bonneville, and my dad has always wanted to manage a racing team.  I asked him if he'd be willing to work for nothing and pull the trailer with his truck.  Roger Penske wasn't returning his calls, so he said "yes"

Turns out he's been my constant motor-vation ever since we forged this alliance, has been dogging me as to how far along I am (that's his management style), asking good questions and making great suggestions.  He's a former purchasing manager for Rockwell, and still has a ton of contacts in the aerospace industry.  While he's not an engineer, his grasp on what we're trying to do and what it's going to take is sober and remarkable.  He's intuitive, well read, and recognizes a mistake before I get a chance to make it.  What's really great is that he knows what he knows, knows what he doesn't know, and if he doesn't know, he knows who to call.

So for both of us, what started out as two independent thoughts, turned into a shared dream, has become a project, and God willing, next August will become a reality.

The best part?  My mom and my wife are both on board!

Well, I guess we're making a LOT of progress . . .

My next trip to the salt and having my dad there helping me. He has been there every time I have left the line and I don't know how I would do this without his support. Thanks Dad. see you there Tuesday. Vince
