Window nets

Did I read somewhere that seat belt buckle style releases are mandatory now?

2023, page 36. Paragraph Note:
. . . a full door net or a combination of restraint systems that would be equivalent to a "full" door net
  . . . shall be attached with a positive locking system, e.g., seat belt hardware.

Push button quick release pins are also an example of a positive locking system, So I would say seatbelt hardware is not mandatory but an example of a mandatory positive locking system.

Agree. The rule book uses "e.g.," (For example). The word "shall" is missing which means mechanism design is wide open and subject to inspector's approval.
