Interesting point about exhaust exits in a few posts here. Since 1986, our Vega has run exhaust header pipes under the car with extensions exiting out the rocker panels (which are, incidentally, technically the ORIGINAL frame of the unibody car). The portion of the exhaust pipes rearward of the firewall are covered by the step pan. We had a controversy over this in 1986 but related to the step pan itself - not the exhaust pipe routing- & it was settled back then. The wording at the time involved what constituted the original frame which was determined to be the factory designed reinforced rocker panels.
