Good afternoon,
By way of background, I am a historic motorsports author/photographer/lecturer. My current project deals with early competition Mustangs, those being the cars that competed between the Mustang's introduction in mid-April and EOY 1964. Among the events in which Mustangs competed was the 1964 Bonneville Speed Week.
I want to confirm my research to date which shows:
1. Ernie Immerson Enterprises entered a Mustang in AGCS (A Gas Coupe Sedan) with a 500CI engine under #334 and in B/GCS with a 427 CI engine under #331. The A/GCS did not have a recorded time. The B/GCS 160.85 against a record of 173.159, but did record first in class.
2. Ak Miller entered a Mustang in D/PCS under #2890 with a 327 CI engine and in E/PCS under #289 with a 289 CI engine. The D/PCS car ran 120.80 against a record of 153.241 and the E/PCS car ran 144.0 against a record of 159.221. The D/PCS time was good for fourth in class.
3. Karol Miller ran a Mustang in E/PCS under #168 with a 289 CI engine. He ran 159.85 against a record of 159.221 but couldn't back up the run.
Can anyone confirm this information? Would anyone have contact information for Karol Miller or the families of Ak Miller or Ernie Immerson?
In addition, I need photos of one or more of these cars. Preferably Karol Miller's as he did the best against the record in class at the time.
Thanks again and take care,
Mike Matune
