I THINK THOSE GUYS THAT HAVE THE FEEL TO FORM METAL ARE THE BEST.
I'll stop shouting now. I did that because those same guys are all profoundly deaf. All those guys were like the poor guy in the picture with no hearing protection.
You think that blown V8 is loud? There is a huge amount of force needed to flow the metal, and all of that stuff hanging off acts as an amplifier. It takes thousands of hits to form a large piece.
The artistic/engineering sides of the brain rarely cross over, but to form metal you have to have both. The eye to see a beautifully shaped fender that is a flat piece of sheet metal sitting in front of you. The engineer to calculate stretching that thin piece even thinner to get that shape without screwing it up.
The old saying, "How do you get to Broadway" with the answer being "Practice, practice, practice" fits here. Nobody is any good shaping when they first start. "You do that how?"
