You folks just don't understand, do you? I enjoy winter. That's a big reason I live up here. Sure, it's nice to have those warm spring days, like we had yesterday -- but this morning we were greeted with 20F temps and a nice covering of fresh snow -- hiding all of the grungy dirt that's been exposed by the melting in the past few days. Winter's okay, okay?
Good try, Jerry.
I gotta agree with Slim. It's nice living somewhere where the bugs die once a year.
To our friends who do not live on the third coast, or north of the 40th parallel, you'll never know the joys of
1. Snowblowing the neighbors out, and receiving really delicious pot roast for your good deed - nothing brings together the neighbors like a snow storm.
2. Ice fishing.
3. Building an ice shanty for ice fishing.
4. A snow day, where everything stops, including work, and you sit around playing Eucher and drinking brandy when everyone who moved south to "get away from it all" is working.
5. The crunchy sound of snow under your wheels on a yet-to-be-plowed street.
6. The musical sound of tire chains on that same street. (Yeah, they're illegal, but they gotta catch you, and they won't if you've got tire chains.)
7. The absolute stunning silence and solace of a blanket of snow on a tree lined street.
8. Outdoor hockey.
Don't get me wrong, I love summer, too. But I CHERISH variety.
