As a former musician, I've always found it difficult to focus on getting anything done while listening to music.
The issue for me is that as I listen, I wind up mentally going through the exercise of thinking through what I would play on any piece I'm listening to.
This started years ago when I worked 3rd shift in a grocery store. The Muzak system was rather tinny sounding, and while I stocked shelves, in my head, I'd be inserting bass lines where I couldn't discern one on the floor. I still do it today.
Now that said, if I'm just putzing about the garage and don't care what I get done, the Texas Playboys are a go-to, but then so are the Sex Pistols, Merle Haggard, NRBQ and the Flamin' Groovies.
