We will be coming in on I-80> was in the area last month. If you take the I-84 cut off to Logan area is not so steep as 80, then pick up 89 south to I-15 to the 215 belt back to I-80 west. there is some construction but not bad. Certainly going back east the 84 climb is not so steep as 80 out of SLC>

We come down to Pocatello, and cut over to Twin Falls and down to Wells. Miss all of that bad stuff.

Except the radar cop at the Nevada-Idaho border and the one 25 miles North of Wells.

Doug, we don't want to miss SLC.  Nancy has a couple of sons living there and we'll stay with them Monday night -- and get in some visiting, too.   Therefore we always go through the city.  Nonetheless -- as we're driving along I'll check out your route on the map.

For all of those coming down from Big Sky and beyond, ( I-15 ) corridor.  They will be chip coating between Blackfoot and Pocatello starting monday, get off on the south Blackfoot exit, take the old highway through Fort Hall, get back on I-86 and either go left to 15 and down to Utah, or right towards Twin Falls.  There is a better way than going all the way to Twin, either cut back on I-84 to Snowville and then take Utah 30 through Rosette and Montello turns into Nevada 233 at the border, comes out 35 miles west of Wendover.  Never al lot of traffic a few jack rabbits now and then, and the worst hill is coming down the pass on I-80 which you hit any way comming from wells.  I cut off at Arbon Valley road just west of Pocatello  and take it to Snowville 255 miles from Blackfoot to Wendover.  Check it out on Mapquest

Good morning folks
Any word on the I-80 construction through Salt Lake City? last year it looked like a 5 year project.
Thanks
Dave

Thanks for the info Steve. We take the route through Arbon Valley and spend the night at a great little RV park in Snowville.

It's as fine and smooth as possible.
Several new bridges, and all new road as far East as 1300 East.
Udot worked 24-7 to make it happen; the neatest trick ever was assembling the bridges and the moving the giant pieces into place.

As another word or 3 regarding fuel/gas;
There is Flying J at 9th West-21st South.
Costco and Sam's club about 1800 S. and 3rd W.

You don't have to follow I-80 out and around the airport.
2100 S is State sign 201, and a straight shot to I-80 at MP 102.
All new, 3 lanes each direction most of the trip.
Mostly 55-60 limit and a flashing light warning when one of the 3 or 4 stoplights is about to change.
The formerly 2 lane stretch past the Copper smelter (nearly 1/4 mile high stack) has been widened 80% of the way.
For those coming in from I-15 Northbound, you can catch I-215 just North of Sandy and loop around the SW corner of the Metro area.

Folks that would like to "top off" at Costco can slip into the one near Valley Fair Mall, 3500 S. exit. Sorry, gas only there.

Looks like the Monsoon weather pattern may be going away; none too soon.

Regards, and stay safe out there.
Jim

I would like to know if is there anybody interested in helping drive a trailer to Bonneville? I will cover lodging and expense. Pittsburgh or Philadelphia is the initial start point. Please, if anybody is interested call me at 704-254-3493. I really need one more person, would be very nice if someone could help us.
Thank you very much for the help.

Can anybody tell me if I can buy Methanol anywhere in the SLC area?  Our trailer is getting heavy!  I know it is late notice for thinking about fuel for the racer but I never traveled 1800 miles to a race b-4 with a trailer full of weights!  I can haul 50 or 60 gallons along but seems like paying for fuel to haul fuel is getting a little over the top.
Thanks Marty
