Title: Using a wet nitrous setup on EFI
Post by: oz on May 13, 2010, 03:24:18 PM
I am starting the conversion from carbs to EFI on the CBR and was thinking that I mght leave the exsisting nitrous system wet.
My thinking goes a bit like this.
All the parts are there already and working and even though the Wide Band O2 sensor should correct the mixture when the nitrous is in use the less it has to alter anything the better as it dosent take long to cause major damage, The mixture on the nitrous can be adjusted to be right proportions prior to running and just leave the ECU to fine tweak in use.

Any thoughts or draw backs in doing it this way

Cheers Oz

Wet nitrous is the only way I would use nitrous for LSR purposes.

given a choice, fuel from a fuel injector is far
superior to that from a wet nitrous injector...

what is ideal is not always what is best logistically,

meaning much else...can be effective.....

blew up 4 motors using the wet system.  Now I run dry with no problems so far with EFI and 62# injectors.  (Now I did it, went and said no problems)

EFI and DRY all the way.  I wouldn't even say try it, because I don't want you to get discouraged after you blow up your motor a few times before finally saying "DRY and EFI".

Just my thought and opinions of course, but hey, what do I know.  JoeA speaks truthfully.  Since listening to him, I have been sucessful in not burning up my motors any more.

...hate to be mr obvious.....but...."guy"  is the guy....

...also please try to understand.....its as much about...how much
increase in hp you want in relation to base engine hp that is more of
a defining line of trouble......vs which way you go with respect to
most issues related, ie richness, timing retard etc......

so many variables, for each application, how long and how much
imho are key.....

all work to a point.....

Thanks guys
I aint going to use massive amount of Nitrous probably around 80hp shot the motor "hopefully" should be producing around the160hp mark at the crank before the shot, I hope! ,at least this time i will have time to iron out any problems before we get back to the Salt and should be able to try and see which setup works best.
Cheers fellas. Oz
