SW 2020 Results for August 14th
« on: August 21, 2020, 11:39:19 AM »
Did something happen on August 14th that we are not aware of here in the UK.

No Bonneville SW results have been posted for that day on the SCTA/BNI pages.

If it is me having a technology failure can I be pointed to them. I am trying to write up a piece for Fast FACTS and it would be good to have the full story in figures.

Thanks.

Friday began with the few returns runs - which were interrupted by Ralph Hudson's crash.  By the time racing resumed there wasn't lots of time left nor many racers, so qualifying ended at 10.  Return runs were at 11 (well, a bit earlier) and everything was done before 12.

I'm not the person that puts SCTA info on their site/page, and I haven't any idea why the info you seek isn't up.  I do know that we didn't have, say, a power failure that caused all of the data to disappear.

Further deponent sayeth not.

As you probably know Malcolm, you can still listen to Jon's broadcast from the salt.  I have (all the way through!) and there is nothing particularly significant in terms of broken records.

Daily results appeared very regularly - thank you to the volunteer responsible for that - but the last day, consolidated list of records, 200MPH Club stuff, etc. is still missing.  I imagine everyone was packing up on Friday and travelling home, and been busy since.  Maybe the SCTA web site will be updated this weekend?

They're historically slow in posting the "final" results:  last day runs, new 200 Club members (I think there were only 5), etc.   I guess that once the meet is over, they want some time off.  Give 'em a few more weeks.

Jim Hoogerhyde/Electraliner record is an interesting one.

Qualified at 229.140mph with return at 232.388mph.  Average those two speeds and you get 230.764mph.

But the record is 229.363mph?

Records must be set in the same relative mile. It may be the best first run was in the 5 but the best second in the 4 and the 5 was slower so they had to use the 5 mile time even though the 4 mile time was better. Don't know for sure but that is a likely reason. Look at the run logs. They are posted.

Jim qualified in both the 3 and 4 mile. The record run average was calculated using the 3 mile speed from both runs as it produced a higher average mph for the record speed posted. Cheers.

Remember, the rules require that the highest(fastest) mile average must be used for the record speed.
