Gary,   hard to believe its been a year...!!

I havent really taken a breath yet.....finishing the school thing
that loomed over me when we were on the Aussie salt with you
last year........

cant wait to take some time to properly thank you and so many
of you guys over there (and here Ack/Top One) that were part of a
an experience that will stay with me forever.........

THE BEST to you and all..........

glad your fighting the fight in the search for speed, sometimes
ya never know when you going to find some, its alot like
looking for love, sometimes when ya least expect it, it shows
up

Please check to see if the cutie at the cafe/canteen on the edge
of the salt, is wearing the Sturgis Rally shirt (tank top) we gave her last year...
(hopefully she's grown some and washed it alot)......

Joe / All

There will be updates posted on the DLRA website during the week. We won't have Joe's sat connection but an alternative has been improvised...

Yep i,m the bloke doing the daily updates for the DLRA . As we have only one land line from the lake ( and mobiles ( cell ph  ) dont work out there ) , one of the guys is hooking up a fax machine . He will fax me the days results and then i will copy to the DLRA website .
We have never done this before so heres wishing it all comes together . This is my 1st yr since 2000 that I wont be able to go the lake , so came up with this idea to have some sort of salt fix , and hopefully keep the populace informed .

Gary, and all the rest of you lot down there--go fast!!
Joe,it truly was an epic adventure--we owe lots of thanks. Maybe get a chance for some return karma if/when they all head this direction.
Bonneville 2001,2002,2003,2004,and NO stinking 2005,DLRA 2006, next?
Well, sure can't complain about 2008--6 records over 200 and 5 hats from Bonneville,Bubs, and El Mirage for the team!

Not sure you'd want ALL of us there at once  :-D
Might be more manageable a few at a time...

Generally B'ville has enough sun to roast the entire lot of you. Give us a try and come in illegal immigrant numbers.

:-( well we may have to come over this year for our speed fix...Meet cancelled due to wet conditions, apparently the surface moisture is gone but at the lake entry point a probe can be inserted 2 ft into the sodden salt, and its like that for ~150 yards in, the track also is not in a good condition to race...
Always next year

CANCELLED...

I'm surprised Hawkwind hasn't got on here yet to post. He's probably typing right now.

I'm still crossing fingers for a miracle as two of our guys have already left with the car from Perth (West coast) and me and the other team member were flying out tomorrow to Adelaide.

Sucks that it's cancelled so late.

Event wasn't rained out as such, but the access to the lake was very soft as a result of the HEAVY rains in January.

Still haven't heard back from the guys that went out there (or from our team members that were driving across!) to get the full story, but we'll find out soon.

It's a real bummer. As recently as Wednesday people were saying the lake was good and it was 'All systems go!'

Oh well... There's always next year...

Hi Folks,
Real bummer the Aussie DLRA event was cancelled but you cant change the weather and always good to err on the side of safety. I had got as far as Port Augusta from Melbourne when I found out and within 5 minutes had decided the best alternative is to head to Bonny instead.
I have a turbo busa that is only set up for land speed so may as well use it. I met a few of you good folks from the States at Lake Gairdner last year and am looking forward to experiencing your salt. I am trying to get a few other bods together with bikes from Oz for the journey. The cost is high so to try to minimise these I reckon if we get a few in a container and ship together it will help.
Which event is the best?? Speedweek, BUB, World of Speed
Anyone who is keen to come from Oz (I am in Melbourne) flick me an email.
Any advise and tips would be appreciated

Richard
