OK, we have a entry that won't hit 70mph.
If my friend attends the rookie orient Sat Night, and he runs successfully at 60mph, does he still "pass" and is no longer a rookie?
Or do we have show up with something legal and go 125-150? That's what I had to do IIRC, but I think they changed it?

Lots of changes over the past few years. First, a rookie is a rookie for the entire event; no longer one run and done. Second, rookie orientation is now a two part procedure that occurs over two days. Third, there is no minimum speed for rookie run(s). Speeds only get important for licensing. If you're running under the lowest license level, well then you don't get that license.
Be at registration/car tech @ 4 pm sharp on Saturday (3 pm in November) and have a support vehicle with CB near by.

Nathan,
Unless it has changed there is a license available for under 125. Class E, it's PINK, is good for 0-124. See me at EM impound or Amber Lattin at Speedweek.

I could be wrong but I didn't think they were issuing E's any more. FWIW I got an E 15 years ago when I drove my dad's 1-ton dually crew cab diesel pickup to a blazing 87 mph on my rookie run.

PS - we are going to tech it for 130. I'm praying for a serious tailwind, and we put a prop on the top...
