$$$ for the website
« on: April 09, 2022, 11:13:31 AM »
I'm trying to come up with a good idea to raise a few bucks for the site for the 2022 season.  Shirts are dandy, but too much for me to do after my recent medical extravaganza, and also because the special printer that I need to use is kaput.  I'm thinking of Fun Meter buttons with the website printed on 'em.  Simple, easy to get, everybody loves them, and they'll cost way less than a shirt so it won't sting your wallet so hard.

I'd really like to do pocket knives again, but I can't find a good knife at a good price.  The ones I used before aren't available anymore.

I thought about doing a lingerie calendar but Stainless and his crew were already under contract for Victor's Secret and I wouldn't settle for anyone else.

And then I ran out of ideas.  So - over to you.

I agree with HandyGuy. We really don't need trinkets with the website name on them. Just have a formal fundraiser and ask for donations. Market the website. YouTubers are making many $1000s each day from people just viewing their cat running in circles. Have the webmaster put up a banner asking for donations each time we log on. That will remind everyone to give a few $$. Make it easy to donate with just a click or two.

Don, you've made a point and I'll consider it - might use that simple act of begging.  But I'll do the buttons, too, because I KNOW the tourists will buy 'em.  You and I have both seen how visitors buy souvenirs out there.  You're welcome to get one anyway - I really do get comments dang near every time I wear one.  I guess you've pointed out the those of us on the Forum might not want the same swag as Joe and Barbara from Antioch.

Of course I need to be aware of SCTA vendor rules, too.  Later --

Done, thanks for the reminder guys.  Jon, how about putting a banner at the top of the forum page too that is just a little bigger than normal.  With gas and egg prices going up, this is a reasonable request.  Thanks for all that you do for the racers.

Slim - Asking for money is NOT begging.  If each of us paid you for even a portion of the value we receive here you wouldn't even have to ask.  All you should have to do is to remind us occasionally.

Stainless - I've been thinking recently about sending in some $$$ but hadn't yet figured out how.  Your comment If you're reading this, go to the home page and push the donate button....   :dhorse: is timely and helpful.  And for me at least it isn't beating a dead horse.  Thanks for the clue!   :friday

Reminds me of a song we marched to in Basic Training at Ft Knox:

Well, I've got a girl in Kansas City,
she's got a peg leg and a wooden titty.
Sound off, one- two
sound off three- four,
Sound off one-two-three-four, one two-three-four!
