March 6th, 2008. Although the anticipated jet car did not leave under it's own power for it's initial test running, it gave the public a chance to see the redesigned Craig Breedlove car back in race condition. The multiple attempts to start the jet car were unsuccessful and bad fuel was given as the reason it would not fire. Due to permits ending at the El Mirage dry lake and a weekday and daytime driving permit for the hauler they packed up on Thursday the 6th and headed back to base camp in Nevada to sort out the problems. Rumors have it they will be back at El Mirage within a 30 day time frame. 
March 6, 2008 9:17 AM - The Fossett LSR Team are getting ready to fire the engine on the jet car at El Mirage this morning. A few problems with the starting box for the jet vehicle slowed progress down, but some fuel in the unit solved that problem.They will test fire and have a reported morning briefing after the test fire. After that, they plan on making a test run with the car.
Due to crowd control they do not want to run on Friday. There has already been a large gathering at the "Area 51" site to watch the initial test runs. There is alot of other activity on the lake bed with hot air ballons around and Mercedes shooting a commercial as well as other activities.
March 6, 2008 - 6 am - The Steve Fossett Land Speed Jet car may still get to run at El Mirage today. The team was to be arriving on the dirt Tuesday, but due to oversights on the hauler they were held up at the Nevada - California Border. The hauler was reported to have no permits for the road and was oversized. They are running on a two day permit at El Mirage for Tuesday and Wednesday.
They have an area sectioned off by orange fence, some are calling "Area 51". The trailer finally got approval to be driven in California only during the daylight hours. So around 12 Noon on Wednesday they arrived on the dirt. When arriving they were scrambling around sending people off to find some Jet Fuel to run the Jet Car. We will see what happens today as reports come in.
