I'll be there with cameras, etc starting Sunday am.  I have a commitment Saturday and can't be in two places at once (duh.)

If you want photos (cheap), let me know so I can get shots of your bike(s).

I'll also be doing the same stuff as last year and SW and uploading photos to landracing as much bandwidth will let me.  I had fits with the Android phone/laptop/cell tether (using EasyTether) setup, but I think most of that was due to an overloaded tower or server.  I'm crossin my fingers that it'll be a bit smoother at BUB.

I'm lookin forward to shooting the meet, hope to see as many folks as possible.

Should be a good show!
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Please tell me if I've made a bad decision.
After racing my Honda 250cc 4stroke at Maxton Mile for 4 years I have now cleared my schedule enough to make a quick spectating trip to BUB2011 for Sunday and Monday.  But I am concerned about the contagion exposure.  Will it infect me?  I thought high doses of salt killed most contagions but I have read many posts here on LR.com that say that apparently the salt is the problem.  I hope this will not affect all my free time decisions for the remainder of my life. :-D  But I must take the chance.

So, Jarl -- you haven't heard about the sign that's erected at Land's End (the location where the pavement stops on your journey to the racing area)?

The sign says "Abandon all Hope (of keeping your savings account intact) Ye Who Enter Here".

You're in trouble, sir -- but don't worry, you're also in for finding a bunch of compatriots that'll make you know it's worth it.

No, no, no.  That's the inscription at the gates of hell (according to Danté.)

The last time I looked at the sign I got a subliminal message that said, in effect, "You're still hooked for life.  Don't fight it."

I look forward to the handshakin part.  And a drink...as long as it's a Coke or Cream soda.  :)

Stick a fork in Jarl ... he is done ... I am not impetuous by nature but I find myself engineering the next Bonneville build in my head all year long. Which is strange since I have 2 completed LSR motorcycles that hold records and one LSR competition coupe in work. I really dont need another project but I find myself looking on ebay for low priced cars with good aero ... I could retire from the damn job but then I wouldnt have the cash flow to keep dumping good money after bad on racing projects. I will paraphrase the boat owners warning. A land speed machine is a hole in the earth that you fill with money. Be careful citizens, this could happen to you.

Got into Wendover at 7pm last night. The feeling I get as we approach the course on route 80 never changes. My nephews were as excited as if it were Christmas. They drove out from New York. Been on the road since Wednesday. I flew out and we met at NRHS in Denver where Dan applied his dyno magic to the bike. He has done this for us every year we came and you just cant beat tuning a bike at the altitude it will race at. This will be their first Bonneville race as competitors. Joe and Cliff bought the 750cc Turbo Buell bike that Randy Smith built last year. They were able to set records with it at Loring and now they are looking forward to Bonneville. We are heading out to the salf flats in a few minutes. This sure beats wrestling with Hurricane Irene.

Same here. No matter how many years I've done it, for those coming up hwy Alt 93 from the south, that moment is around mile marker 32, just past a small Nevada DOT maintenance yard, up in the hills. You come around a bend, and there it is, a quick view of the salt and floating mountain.
