1958 Chrysler 300D Bonneville record seting car
« on: June 22, 2011, 11:28:01 PM »
This is the Norm Thatcher 58 Chrysler that he drove in 58 to a record of 156.386 MPH. It has been in storage for 35 years. It belongs to a friend of a friend. 392 Hemi and the factory only made two of them with standard transmission. He has all the paper work. I will send you a picture and all the info if you are interested.

Hey, Doug -

While I can't buy it, I would love to see some pics of it.  I've always been a fan of the Exner designed Chryslers, the Kiekhaefer 300 that ran NASCAR, and my dad had a '62 300 Sport.

Gorgeous cars.

Thanks.

The car is in the San Luis Obispo area of the central coast in California. About 40 miles north of Big Ditch. I have had many emails already about it and only have one picture of it. I will see if I can get some others.

Doug,
Bucket List Dream Avanti Dan here. I would love to see that car. If it still exists I knew where the 1959 Coronet that Norm drove to 200 was sitting. To my best knowledge it is still sitting there in SO Cal. It has the 413 with dual carters and the made by Norm headers still on the car. 3 Speed on the floor. No luck on locating the 392 that was in the car at Bonneville. I saw it before he left and when he got back. Followed it to it's current home. I tried to buy it a few years back and no deal. Sitting there returning to mother earth. SO sad. If I can help promote the sale of this car, let me know. Vickie at Gold Coast has my contact info.

Just talked to my friend and he said a deposit has been made on the car. I told my friend that when the car is sold I would like the seller to give a finders fee to Jon for this web site. The owner is just a friend of a friend of mine and I have never met him.
