Thanks 38flattie! you understood me!...Yes I'm from Forli' Italy.
In my last post Jl222 whit his simulator had show that The Goldenrod with 10200hp could run 707mph.
For example...for such project, and I ask to all.. :
1) what could be the better way to reach safely this power? 4,2 engines? Turboshaft?
2)Mantain the incredible goldenrod drag-coefficient even with a little bigger car (more space required by the fuel)
3)Transmission? Which kind of transmission can we use for so much power?
4)Tires...Mykey thompson are tested for 750mph..right?
5)Tractio/lenght of the track?
6)At this speed goldernrod is still stable? obviously with more weight!
thank to all

Trent, Lewis is Italian. I believe he posted that he is from Forli.

Yes, but the Nigerian scam joke was so much funnier than Stainless' edit grin cheers

And nothing against the Nigerians, they have some amazing scams!

The best source for actual tire test speeds would be to ask Tom Burkland, as he and his late dad did the tests on one hell of a Hi-tech ( International Harvester I believe, or maybe a Dodge Ramcharger) test machine!!!
I wish I could have been there.............. just not too close.............   cheers  Bob

Just to report the words of Don Vesco himself from an interview :"Nah," said Don. "I'd like to go more toward six [hundred]. It would be nice to do the sound barrier, wheel-driven."

At Bonneville's 4200-foot elevation, that would be about 720 mph, Breedlove has calculated. "A little out of our realm," Don said, wistfully. "We'd need a lot more engineering and some people who were really sharp in aerodynamics. But maybe we'll think of something."
I'm not the only one!!  cheers

Lewis, you're not the only landracing.com member with this dream.

This is member tstakes's site:  http://sonicwindlsrv.com

Try contacting him- I'm pretty sure he won't mock you!

Yes...An automotive engineer John Conway projected a 16wheel streamliner with 32 sanron rotary engines (wankel)...total output 13120hp...like J222 calcoulated for 777mph goldenrod...The project is complete and the extimated speed is 780mph. Only the track sound a little bit ambitious..a 18mile rubberized track built specifically.
Very interesting.

"Another Crazy guy...from hot rod magazine"

Lewis you got that part right. Note that we are now almost 40 years on and he still has done nothing.

Lewis...all these naysayers remind me of the engineers that said a dragster could never go over 140 mph in
the 1/4 mile  grin  Last Sunday it was over 320 mph in 1000 ft. in less than 4 sec. AND don't forget that there limited to 500 cubic inches 85% nitro, blower size and speed, tires and gear ratios also length and weight:-o
So, all you naysayers that claim speeds can't be attained, how fast can a current dragster go in 1/4 mile or 1/2
mile with just a gear change.

Yea I know more fuel also.           JL222

Could you imagine if the NHRA threw out the rule book and let those crew chiefs loose with whatever they could come up with. I'm guessing guys like Allen Johnson, Austin Coil, etc. could have some serious fun with that.

You naysayers clearly have a lack of vision. Lewis has found the missing key to achieving a wheel driven record OVER 600 mph. With this motor the TURBINATOR will have zero problem in going over 600 mph and very likely even MACH levels.
~JH

Johnny,

I guess what I need to ask you is what makes you think that the Turbinator can not already achieve this with current powerplant? I think the only thing holding this effort back to go 600 mph is money, engine heat, tires and distance.
You assumed that they can't, which is a wrong assumption. The powerplant is the least of the problems going over 600 mph. You must ask yourself to apply the 80/20 rule. Which is 20% of the equation that is 80% of the problem.

Making power is never been a problem ask Tom Burkland what driving at 50-70% throttle is like and he will give you a handfull of stories, then ask him what is it like to go 80-100% throttle and he probably can't tell you.

Thank you...Especially to JL222.
I think think that the right way to top this kind of speeds is power.Look at the records: the most powerfull is the record holder.
Fastest lakester: 3500hp Freddy?s lakester is one of the most powerful.
911 roadster= most powerful ever
Lindslay leggitt= ???hp...but we all know is extreme engine.
Burkland= most powerful liner with Chet Herbert cam who unofficially hit 437mph
Goldenrod= not so power but the finest liner ever.
Campbell=4500Hp...in the 60s
Jl222 Hyper camaro =2300+hp....I think one of the most powerful /Bgalt ever...and with a bit of luck an easy 300mph car.

Yes...than there is the traction.....
But once you solve the traction problem ,if you want to go fast you must add POWER!
Today most of the builders have made very technologic liners with fine aerodinamic like spectre , poteet and main....
Yes, beautiful work..very great engineering effort, but not so high potenial...max 480/500 mph.
We all know that add power is relatively simple....but why so many builders choose to  find a more exasperated aerodynamic with relatively little power engine insdead than a superpower big-liner? with 2000hp you will never pass 500mph.And much more the 600/650mph.
Someone can help me to understand what is main hobstacle in build a hyperpower liner?
Thank you

"Someone can help me to understand what is main hobstacle in build a hyperpower liner?"

Easy.
Power is not the issue. Any number of cars make more power than they can use.
Aero is not the issue. Low frontal area and Cd numbers are common.
Traction is one huge problem. Gotta get the power to the ground. Your idea of running on rails would make any attempt at a landspeed record invalid and the US Air Force has already taken a rocket sled to over 6000 mph.
Any speed attempt in a wheel driven vehicle needs room to accelerate. LOTS of room. Thrust powered vehicles don't need as much room because they can generate the acceleration rates needed to do the job in the track length available, and just look at how much track was needed for the current record holder...at several G's acceleration.

Building a "hyperpower liner" is not the issue. Putting all that power to use is.
