I am going to say one thing here about the comment regarding nothing in the rules aying you cango out and damge your brain...... I am guessing the comment was made "tongue in cheek"... but the REAL problem is NOT with the racers.... it is the heirs and dependants who sue the organization in the event of an unthinkable catastrophe having occurred.... it may sound like "assholes were hard at work".... but was that REALLY the case?.... and just because verbal assurances are given that there will be NOBODY WHO WILL SUE the organization in the event of an unthinkable catastrophe..... insurance companies WILL NOT accept that.

Just saying it like it really is....

You all have to remember that in this era where bad stuff that happens is EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT BUT MINE, there will be any number of lawyers who will take on a liability case..... and any number of judges who will allow the case to be heard..... and probably zillions of jurors who will agre to sit and decide.... that it is the organization's fault because, if they lost a loved one (especially a "breadwinner"), they would want (and in all likelihood NEED) the money from a ruling in favor of the plaintiff...

this topic, in ALL likelihood, has a sub-plot.... maybe the officials should take Jack aside and have a "chat" with him....

IF they wanted to limit to FIM requirements why wouldnt the the rule state "Must be attached to a MC that complies with the 20 deg LEAN rule  because there are lots of LSR bikes & riders lead with their heads. huh

No, I do understand that. The local phone book here has 65 pages for Attorneys and 27 pages for Auto. One could guess that less than half the people who hire an attorney here buy cars, need a mechanic, or buy auto parts. California at least can be a very silly place for some things. Tort reform is just one area long overdue.

If you don't know Jack is a friend of mine. I believe in Jack and what he builds. I believe that the board of the SCTA can sometimes make decisions that are hard to justify, if you dissagree. But there have to be rules. Somebody has to make them. Even when they don't want to. And I want to thank them for the effort. I am still working on the rules for the RFTA. When finished they will be perfect. Everyone will love them. But it has been taking longer that I expected to get them just right.

Arbitrarily changing rules, that only affect one proven record setting design, and keeping the real reasons secret, with no trial, that's the problem! Just sounds fishy to me! Sounds like the squeaky wheel deal!
Thanks Jack

Yeah,Jack. I hear you. I heard you very well when it happened to the XXO rules. The Salt Cat guys recently heard you when it hapoened to them. Sometimes it seemes to happen to everyone at some time or another. Just part of the fun. Remember, If you change the record you are doing good. If you change the rules you were doing better.

What disturbs me is that when someone bends the rules and gets away with it -- and others follow -- that it then becomes the rule.

Case in point here lately -- the "no horizontal paneling" between the body and the push bar rule on Modified Roadsters.  Surely that wasn't written to allow what's now, apparently,  allowed.

Stan, any un-protested infraction is legal   rolleyes

When I mentioned to an inspector I thought something didn't match the class rules, he said "give me $100 and I'll check it" ....  huh

And a question asked by a curious person may make a motorcycle inspector temporarily change rule interpretation and make everyone cut up their fairings... until the next EM meet when the interpretation goes back to normal.

It is all part of the charm... ain't it Jack  undecided

Stainless,

What the inspector told you was not in the best interest of LSR. Years ago I asked Dan W. why they let cars get through inspection that are not technically legal for a certain class. His reply to me was they are only checking for safety related items. But when they come back to impound after they have set a record that the real scrutiny begins and they are then checked to make sure they are legal.

I guess I will just bring plenty of $100 bills with me from now on.

"Got'Cha" was first run in 1974. Bill Temple entered both 2 clubs in 1976 with records in AA/BGR. At El Mirage 201.79 and Bonneville at 220.

In 1977 Greg Temple started driving "Got'Cha" and entered the El Mirage Dirty 2 club in 1979 @ 201.97. Greg went on to set two records at Bonneville, one in 1981 at 241.848, then in 1991 he set another record at 262.230

Bill and Greg were the first father and son to enter the El Mirage Dirty 2 club. They broke the D/BFR at Bonneville in 1981 @ 241 with top speed of 249. This record still stands today. In 1991 they set the A/BFR @ 262 which was later broke by Duane McKinney.

Last year I pushed the envelope with my fairing. When I was going through tech, I asked the inspector to give me an ok or not ok. I was given an ok. Didnt do much good, fell down on the next run sad

This should be fair notice to those in build process to ask questions from the appropriate contacts if there is any doubt about what the rule book is saying.  Finding out in impound has got to be a bad feeling.

I thought in one of these threads somebody mentioned they were working on a prone face first liner.

In order to take me aside and chat, "they" would have to identify themselves! I haven't seen any of them post even!
If they made sense, I would even thank them !
