How did you come through the weekends storms??
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:18:13 AM »
With all of the damage from the past weekends storms in NC and the South I was just asking how our Southern Racers came through.  I have spoken to many of you, but there are others I haven't.  The damage in NC is overwhelming.  We are fine as 2 super cells passed over Granville County with rotation, but never touched down.  There is devastation all around us though.  I know there was a tornado in the Maxton area and also North of Laurenburg.  The news has covered Lee, Wake, Burtie, Cumberland and the rest of the hardest hit counties.  Let us know how you came through, and if you need anything.  There are an army of volunteers out trying to help.  The Spirit of NC is strong.

Just spoke to the Maxton Airport people. The tornado missed the airport, a few trees down in Laurinburg. A big Tornado did touch down just over the border in South Carolina...a lot of damage.

Tornado hit about 10 miles south of me and the wife, tore up an elementry school, damaged some shops and, of course hit a trailer park. 36 folks injured and about 60 homes damaged or destroyed. We go lucky only power out for 13 hours.

Tornados 10 miles north and 10 south, 10 west & 10 east. There has been a lot of damage, but just (if not more) as many heroes and volunteers, especially our first responders and their families. Like somebody said after hurricanes Fran & Floyd--"I finally met my neighbors."

Good to hear you all made it through OK.  For a while there it seemed like there were tornadoes all around us.  I wasn't here in 1984, doing the military thing, so I don't know what that was like, but I have never seen anything like Saturday.  It looks as bad as areas we were in after an air strike was called in.  Looking forward to seeing everyone hopefully in May.

We are all Ok here in the Triad,,, only 70mph winds and driving rains....

I was down East in 1984,,, driving to my restaurant when the tornado tore half the roof off while I was on the phone to my employees.. I got there between the 7 tornado's, had to comfort many scared customers and employees,, The big 10 ton roof airs ended up a block down the road. cars tossed like toys.. In hindsight I should have not driven in the storm back them,,, but duty called,,,

This round of storms many folks stepped up as well.

I wish everyone affected by the storms a safe a speedy recovery.

Nothing in Wilmington - our lights didn't even flicker.  Our hearts go out to those who suffered physical and/or property damage.  My new mezzanine is almost up in the shop and THAT'S where I'm going if one comes our way.  It's built out of heavy duty structural steel and is bolted firmly to the slab - ain't goin' nowhere.

Today northern Utah had major winds and stormy weather, High winds in the 70s plus. Power outages and trees blown over. A little windy in southern Utah but no damages Ive heard of.
