It may be posted somewhere but as I recall I think he did get the 200+ run.

In the SCTA results I found a 187 on Thursday.  That may have been his best.

Turned out at 4 1/4

yep, Bill was very tenacious this week and overcame more obstacles than anyone should have to.  He and the crew used a little humpty dumpty magic and put back together some pieces that should have been in the trash bin and got out there and ran 200mph!  Hard work DOES pay off!

I pushed Bill off the line and followed down the coure a little...I have to say that little D motor sounds darn wicked at speed!  He ran 200 average over mile 4 and it was still winding up but was on the rev limiter.... so it still has more to come!

It was a great week at Bonneville. So many people helped us. But yes we did get a time slip for an "a" license. it peaked at 204 per the gps at 8200 with a 3:50 and a 28 in tire. We had so many other issues we did get to run the 3:33. We only ran 4 miles.
All-in-all I am satisfied we learned a lot, over came some obstacles and went 200. Met a lot of cool people.

Kix you guys had an awesome weekend. Congratulations on a great running truck that was well engineered and built. The drivers weren't too bad either!

Now it's time to get all of the salt out of the 2100's wounds and get ready for Maxton.
Thanks to everyone for their help and support.

Would like to go to Maxton but my rig is still in pieces in TN . The repair estimate is almost as much as I paid for the whole truck! Even with Kix's buddy Daryl getting me some help on then parts and labor. Tues I will try and get a wholesale price as-is. Then I can buy a 26' box trailer and pull it with my 2500 Silverado. I have all year to find something to haul the big trailer to Speedweek next year. I won't make the Sept Maxton but will be at the Oct event if I have to use the open trailer!

Bill,

If I remember correctly your Silverado is a Duramax... if so it will sure pull a 26 foot box trailer.. But if you are going to get a new trailer.. why not opt for a 36 foot goose neck,, it will have 28 feet in the floor and 8 foot of storage up top,,, It will pull and park much better.. and the overall nose to tail length vs the tag trailer is not much more,,, Mine is 40 foot long and is no problem to pull.

Talk to you soon.

Sparky you are correct, my math shows I could rent the Ryder for the next six trips to Bonneville for what this one trip cost with my own truck. Not knocking the Volv 670 or the Cummins power plant my issue came from poor workmanship allowing o-ring material to enter the oil sysytem from the oil cooler. The o-ring ruber lodged in the #4 piston oil squirter and # main bearing. I have two estimates, long block $26k and short block $18k that is assuming a $5500 core charge is not needed. If the core is bad I can raise my estimate by $5500. I am now trying to get the tractor transported to my shop in Tampa where we have a few more options.

Charles, my Siverado  is a 2500 not a 3500. Not sure if goose neck is the way for me to go.

I can't speak about hauling cars, but I've hauled a bunch of horses over the years. Once you've used a gooseneck, you won't ever want a tag-a-long again. With the load bearing over the truck's axle and the places you can maneauver the trailer into --- heaven.

If you are getting a fifth wheel trailer I'd suggest a long box truck, or be sure that the rig can be turned sharply without the front corner of the trailer taking out the back window of the truck. That will usually happen with a short box. I know this from experience. :-o :-o :-D

PJ, I agree,,, the main concern is bed lenght..

when using a fifth wheel or ball type gooseneck hitch if you have a bed/box less that 8feet,,, you need to get the offset hitch to keep the actual trailer box further back.

the 2500 duramax will pull the 32 to 36 foot gooseneck very well  the box length is the concern.. and to a lesser extent the max weight... as the 2500 has a decent gvwr and towing capacity,,,

Well I sold the Volvo 670 today...It was a blood . My $36k truck needed a $26k long block! The good news is there is enough out of the wholesale of the tracktor to buy a nice enclosed trailer. Not too nice but nice enough.
The oringinal 2100 was buillt by Mark Alongi who passed away before he got to Bonneville. When I bought the car I told Hal, Mark's best friend, that I would run the car as Mark left it at Speedweek 2011. Hal came out to see it run and I think it helped him to know that their project made it to the salt. For 2012 my plan is to make some changes based on what I learned and what I learn every day reading this forum.

At Speedweek we were able to peak at 204 with a D naturally asperated motor that was down a hole due to a ring seal issue and running extremely rich on a 3:50 gear in 4th gear 1:1 at 8,384 RPM. We later found out the motor had a cast crank so we may have dodged a bullet. The D CGALT record is 234+ the D/CBGALT is 223. It seems to me that with either a turbo or blower set up we would have a better shot at 223 than the CGALT D record of 234. So the decission has been made the car will run CBGALT with a D motor. The car did drive good and straight although at 200+ it felt like it coud use some more weight, it never moved arond like it wanted to spin. Even on the windy day it seem to run straight. The in car confims little to no steering input.

After readying Jeff's build diary called 1973 camaro AA/CGC I really learned some ways to upgrade my car's cage and engineering, Hey, Jeff "imitation" (aka coping your design)  is the finest form of flattery :)

The 2100 is almost totally disassembled and I am still finding lumps of salt in places I never thought it could get.  The motor is apart, the heads are at the machine shop getting freshened. The first order of business will be to remove the firewall, install new brake/clutch peddles that hang vs floor mounted and a linkage throttle. Then some plate under the driver and trans tunnel. Notch the firewall to allow some engine setback. Add some additional cage bars, gussets and areas to add weight.

In the next few days I will set up a "Re-Build" diary for the 2100.

Charles...don't know yet
I think a turbo would give me the most power with the least paracidic drag and a low hood. If I did a belt drive it would be a centrifical...although you can't beat the look or sound of a roots!

Matt and his brother Jay are kicking around some ideas.

Since I will have most of the floor cut out I may go ahead and cut the trunck floor too. To make room for a quick change and lower the fuel cell.

Lots of plans so little time.
