Do you have a Busa????
« on: January 22, 2006, 12:17:16 AM »
The lakester I'm building currently has a Suzuki GSXR-750 in it. I'm building the frame at this point and I'm trying to make it so that it will also work later with a 'busa motor. Could anyone give me a link to a site that might have the dimensions of it.

Or could someone measure theirs (you don't have to be exact, to 1/2 inch would be fine) and give me the following:

1. Width of the head.

2. The distance from the counter-shaft sprocket/chain center line to the right side and left side of the head. This would be to the plane of the right or left side of the head as if it was projected down vertically to the sprocket height.

3. The distance from the counter-shaft sprocket/chain center line to the further-est right side part of the motor (not the head).

Thanks,

Sum

Hey Sum
last year I loaned a busa motor to San Diego state university for a project. they digitized it for dimensions. you can call Dr Burnes at 619-933-6058 and may be he can ftp or email ya what ya need.

I thought you were on the underside not the thick side 8) .

See if this helps.

1. Width of the head (Dimension A).

2. The distance from the counter-shaft sprocket/chain center line to the right side and left side of the head. This would be to the plane of the right or left side of the head as if it was projected down vertically to the sprocket height (Dimensions B & C).

3. The distance from the counter-shaft sprocket/chain center line to the further-est right side part of the motor.  Probably the right side case (Dimension D).

Thanks,  Sum

Thanks Kent, I called him, but got his answer machine.  I'll see how Gary does and maybe I won't have to call him, but some other dimensions would also be handy,

busa dimensions
« Reply #6 on: January 23, 2006, 04:30:21 PM »
Sum,

  I don't have a 'busa. Wish I did. I do have a '05 1300 throttle body assembly that measures 13 1/2" from the TPS to the throttle cable attachment. I'm going to adapt them to "grandma's" old Saturn  :roll: You probably didn't need that dimension, but it's better to have too much information than not enough.

  It has hi-impedance injectors. Anybody know what size injector the '05 came with? Or how I could identify their size and pressure requirements?

That is strange :? .  Mine measures the same distance across there.

I don't have an answer to your question, but ( HERE IS A SITE ) for Hayabusa's.  I have my question over there also.  Look at their other forums also as they have some that are more race orientated.

c ya and for the rest of you Harv has more done more work on his car and you can see it ( HERE ),

measurments
« Reply #8 on: January 24, 2006, 12:42:31 AM »
Sumner  here are the measurments ,I'm assuming that the Aussie model motor is the same as the Yank version
A. = 415 mm
B. = 150mm
C. = 360 mm
D. = 385 mm
 Your problem to convert to that wacky  imperial system
Hope it helps  :)

A. = 415 mm = 16.338"
B. = 150mm =  5.905"
C. = 360 mm =14.173"
D. = 385 mm  =15.157"

Thanks guys, but I'm wondering about one thing. B + C should have equaled A and it is about 3.7 inches (95 mm) different.

Maybe I didn't make something clear.  B is from the sprocket center line to the left side of the head and C is from the sprocket center line to the right side of the head.  Those two together should be the width of the head (A).

Let me know what the final decision is.

Thanks,

Sum

right
C=265mm   a-b=c
the previous "c" was to the outside of the clutch cover which is the widest part of the cases, except for  "d"  which is a part of the starter motor gears
so
A= 415mm
b= 150mm
c= 265mm

d= 360mm to widest part of the cases   or  385mm to the widest part of the motor
hope this is what you are after  :)

I am close to there if it requires a trip to SDSU. I will call him.
Short of that if anybody can photo it from 4 sides with a ruler in the near foreground it would provide a scale to get every dimension from. :wink:
