Stockton Wheel no more

Stockton wheel owner died

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry to make this my first post, I'll post a legit intro asap, but I thought this was very important to lots of members.
I live in Stockton, Ca and Frank Mauro Jr's death was reported in the paper today (Stockton Record).

I used to work next door, father in law still does, and I guess Frank committed suicide yesterday. He had also stopped all shipping going in or out, and let on to his employees that buisness was shutting down, earlier in the week.

Besides all the unhappy customers, myself included, it's still very sad news for his family, friends, and employees.

I just figured that anybody with orders/deposits would need to know.

I was going to order some wheels from them about 3 weeks ago, price was pretty high, but the wheels were a little special.    Sorry to see them go.    If you an alternative supplier, i would recommend Marsh Racing wheels  (MRW)  or Diamond Wheels out of Milwaukee.

Sad to hear Stockton Wheel is gone, and RIP Mr. Mauro.

We had to have special wheels made for our truck, and we went to Marsh Racing Wheels, and I'm very happy with the quality, price, and delivery.  It's impossible to find LSR wheels for 8-lug trucks, but MRW came through for us.  A+.

I had great service from The Wheelsmith. Charles Venerable recommended them to me. I called on a Monday 3/28 told him I was trying to get to Maxton on 4/2. My wheels arrived 3/30 unpainted on Wednesday. Welded 360 degrees with Dzus tabs.  http://www.thewheelsmith.net/ Wheels were about $70 each. These are good guys and very helpful.

Diamond makes a great LSR wheel - my only complaint was it took a lot of weight to get 'em balanced - but if you go with Diamond, ORDER THEM RIGHT NOW.  It was 4 months before I had them in my hands, and I live here, and picked 'em up at the shop.  Bill does a ton of stock car work, and I guarantee you he's arse-over-teakettle in orders.

4 months from today is August 8 - that will give you a week of wiggle time for B'ville.

I'm using Bassett racing wheels, their stock sizes are inexpensive and they are available in a wire range of widths, backspacing, and hole patterns. Mine shipped in less than two weeks.
