Willow Grove NAS
« on: March 22, 2011, 09:30:10 AM »
I'm a total newbie, just joined last fall and will be attending my first meet this April. My primary business in commercial real estate and my facility is very near the flight path of Willow Grove. The Navy has declared the base "surplus" and they runway is expected to have the big white X placed in the next few months. I have been watching the Land Reuse Authority (LRA) VERY closely as their actions and what happends with the base can have a great affect on my business. The runway is 10,000 feet from end to end and has been well maintained. I'm a little partial to getting events at Willow Grove. I am in the ear of the LRA on a regular basis. The idea for using the strip for racing purposes has been brought up by a number of different people in the community for a number of purposes.
Interest / pressure from as many sources as possible may be able to make something like Land Racing possible there. I created a website for people to post their opinion on the internet. reusethebase.com REGESTER and POST. I am doing everything I can to stay in the ear of the LRA

Joe a kilo event is to short for my Studebaker with the E motor,,
but I could run the Vicky with the C motor !

I am game for any events (East of the Mississippi) to support the ECTA or LTA or LSR in general.
Any travels West of the Miss has but one destination..."THE SALT"

So back East,,, build it and we will come race there.

I would very likely participate there in the kilo if it didn't conflict with other lsr events in the region.  If we measure our speeds in kph I might just have a shot at a 200 club  hat!   :-P

There's some history here (almost).  For a number of years the SCTA conducted 1/2-mile drags (.87654?K) on Riverside Raceway.  When we bought our roadster, it had previously chucked off its harmonic balancer in the lights at one of the events.

There's the right attitude!  The 200 should be adjusted for length!  That's the only way we'll get one of these Merlot thingies.

Milt  how many MPH's is 200 kph ?  maybe the Vicky can do it,,, I have been 126mph  in the 1/4 mile in second gear with the Vicky so in the Kilo I would make it to high gear possibly over 150mph.
