Results from Speedweekend on ice 2011

Magnificent weekend in Orsa Speedweekend, brilliant weather too. Thanks to Glenn Ocklund and all who made this event possible.

I survived my maiden run on the nitrogen bottle powered sled (sponsoreed by EKTK and CONTUB ), managed to propell itsself 50 feet before the outlet iced up.. next year i bore the outlet up and fix better steering. This first ever run was quite an adrenalin kick !

theres a few you tube films from the event already on youtube, just write orsa speedweekend to see them.

Also there a few fotos on my website :- www.freewebs.com/ellwoodhybrid then go to pictures and orsa speedweekend 2011

Lots of photos coming soon.

further investigation showed the valve had not frozen too bad, just the 150 Bar had sunk to 60 Bar during the 15 meter run. I can bore up the outlet for more start acceleration, but seriously dont think it would run more than 200 meters. Total weight including rider is 170 kg.

Above was a small sample of some of the vehicles at our 2011 Orsa Speedweekend. Hope you all enjoyed seeing them.

Next years date is already set 11 March 2012 at the same place in Orsa Sweden.

A really great weekend, all praise in the world isnĀ“t enough for Glenn and his crew for pulling this thing off year after year. Hats off to you guys!

Here is our weekend compressed into two short videos, we finally made it all the way to the finish line despite bent runners and an afterburner bent like a banana. With my left foot in the ice during the entire 2000m run to compensate to the bent runners we still clocked in at a top speed of 122km/h on the GPS so next year we should be able to see some serious speeds.

We might even have a secret card or two up our sleeve for some extra speed, but that is only on the planning stage at this point.

the nitrogen tube rocket first run video. Not fast this time, but possible for better acceleration next year

With all due respect, Ellwood --

How do you say "anticlimactic" in Swedish?

Best of luck for next year, hey?
