Freud, great time in the chat tonight, those that don't participate, lose out. Talking about the kids was tops of my night!

Stopped by their pits with the mobile broadcast unit, they are now at inspection.  Nice bunch, having a great time.  Photos eventually.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

I hear there was a glitch in inspection - has a solution been arrived at?

Chris, they have a timing slip. 26.00+ MPH. They ran a full mile.  There will be more posted later. They went to Salt Talks.

Congratulations TEAM

we did it - first run over the whole mile at 26.03225 mph on GDiesel!  It's on the slip.

Chris, we had to take out the glass fuel tank, change the fuel ines to non-clear (we had help from the 36 hp Volkswagen guys) and are now using the original tank.

Went to Salt Talks this evening.

Tomorrow we go from 96 tooth to an 85 tooth sprocket and are aiming at 30mph++++

Tim and I met Landspeed Louise..

off to the pool now

I knew that car was faster than mine!  :-D

Be glad it was an easy fix - clearly a best-practice safety issue for racing - sounds like you were prepped to handle it.

I know, the rulebook doesn't say anything about glass fuel tanks - but then, you're probably the first team to ever show up with one.

Those bug guys are a great lot - nuttier than your standard salt racers, but passionate about their Beetles.

Congratulations, Eco Team!  Bump that number up tomorrow.

Curious - I suspect you're running controlled testing for economy - will you be comparing the two gear sets?

Schruiber, use the chrome plated ones. The blinding glitter will distract the inspectors.

Just remember to collect the data. The Shell engineers will be watching.

Talked with a couple of the kids who came up and chatted at the Salt Talks get together. Neat young people, and a great addition to our sport! Our best wishes to them, and their teachers!
