1350cc pushrod bike - last engine run video
« on: February 08, 2011, 12:12:50 AM »
A long time to finish this story.  As I told last year, the engine package lasted 1 minute 17 seconds.  I've managed to clip part of that video so you can see and hear it run.  At the end of the short video you can hear the drive start hammering itself to bits.

This video is near the bottom of the page at the link.

Lessons learned:
1.  Don't gear cranks together to run staggered timing; only run with identical cylinder positions firing together.
2.  Don't let two engines have separate ignition spark events; prevent gear drive back lash impacts.
3.  Don't keep telling your wife "it's almost ready to go".

Maybe someday, I'll try another twin engine bike.
Regards, JimL

Thanks fellows....I'll be staying with one engine for a while.  I need to find time to fix the handling, then figure out an external drive off the right end of the crankshaft.

Trouble brewing.....

It was a nice attempt and a great build to watch, Jim.  Lots of original thinking and good craftsmanship.
