Bike class
« on: January 30, 2011, 10:35:11 AM »
I have a question about fairing class. Dose a bike like this NUS from 1956 meet ANY ECTA class? I don't think it is a Special construction because the front and rear wheel are covered.   And I dont think it is a streamliner because it dose not have a roll cage.

Just thinking about wild projects while I watch paint dry . WOW the fumes must be getting to me. :-o

that is what I thought. BUT why ??? Just wounder if it is because it is unstable? or if it falls over you are trapped but not protected? it looks easy t build and would be fast I guess.

Well, there's the stipulation in the rules that the inspectors or other officials may require a rider to demonstrate the low-speed handling of the vehicle, and I expect that easse of getting off the bike would be carefully examined, too.  Don't start building yet. . .

That is NSU.......a couple of years ago a replica of this bike ran at the BUB........except this particular one was Honda powered, and ridden by the son of the man in your picture......name the man and his speed?

And yes, it was somewhat unstable in a cross-wind when I saw the original bike set a World Record in the mid-1950's...

Question authority.....always

Wilhelm Hertz, 211.400 mph with a blown 500cc engine. In 1956.

I think this is the older standing SCTA record -- do any of you LSR historians know for sure?

Yes that is still the current record in SCTA.  Gary Hensley in the Williams Arrow almost took that record a few years back before they switched to 650 S-G.
