Any Land Speed (Racing) Action in 2011?
« on: January 08, 2011, 06:14:24 PM »
Anybody out ther want to comment on the state of the ALSR in 2011?
We have heard it all from the teams and their (lack of) marketing people.
How about some insight from people on the ground.  What do you think
will come of 2011?  My thought is nobody will make a run close to 500mph.
I hope to see the Aussie Invader push up the mark in 2012, then we get
to see what the Bloodhound will do in 2013.  That's where I want to be!
I have quite a few thoughts on the NAE project but I will save that for
another rainy day.  I bet they have lots to say..................$

Doubtful that anyone is doing any runs this year.  Roscoe is in engine development, no one has bought the Fossett car, Bloodhound, Eagle, and Bullet have $$$ issues.

All I can tell you at this time is that I've sent in the paperwork to the arm of the government that says they own all the land in North America.
We're working on details of aerodynamic fairings, analysis of the molecular structure of the wheels including cryogenic treatment of those wheels
and liquid nitogen cooling of the brake rotors. We've built 3 of the 4 high speed parachutes and have 4 additional parachutes for less than 300 MPH.
We're still trying to find money and we'll be trying to line up volunteers for some runs in the September/October timeframe. I do realize the
Bloodhound is now the lead story so we'll just have to stay in the background and surprise the naysayers. Sometimes the "Dark Horse" wins. Did you
every read the story about Seabiscuit? The little horse with crooked legs that beat the famous "War Admiral" in the match race of the century!
Maybe we should have named the North American Eagle "Seabiscuit".

When I get it all nailed down, I'll let you know what our needs will be and draft you to help me get some support. Thanks,  Ed

Looks like no runs in 2011.  Bummer.
Congrats to Bloodhound for getting new sponsors
Rolex and Cisco, marketing at it's finest.
This just makes the race a bit tighter for 2012 or 2013.
