Board Backup
« on: January 12, 2006, 02:47:48 AM »
Ok the message board is back online with minimal losses. We lost some Posts from Sunday thru Tuesday when the board went down.

Have upgraded the board system to make it more secure.

I did see that I lost my private messages... To bad...

Any issues please post here. New or old issues I need to know about them.

I have backups of the system in place. Any takers on someone wanting to be a board admin to do weekly backups. Not much to do on your part just click and save.  Email me at webmaster@landracing.com

Hi Jon
I was logged in when it happened( clicked on an index and it went Ruski)......was the hacker registered? I'm not up to speed on how it works but I felt a bit of that "did they think it was ME????".....great that you're back ....
Few understand what I'm trying to do but they vastly outnumber those who understand why...................

A few last minute adjustments to the board made Thursday night. Board was on and off for a few hours while I made some manual adjustments to the coding of the board.

Next is to start cleaning out the MYSQL database. There are a bunch of duplicate entries that I need to clear out but this should not effect the function of the board. The coding changes I did this evening were ones missed the previous night.

Jon,

A better solution would probably be automated backups. That way you get rid of the human error factor. I could probably help script something up. We might even be able to transfer the backup files to a different machine, in case of drive failure. Though I don't know what the resource requirements would be.

Professor Weinburger sighed, knowing that without the alien mother to care for the last surviving egg of her once-proud species, the egg would surely die; still, he thought, greasing the fry-pan, it certainly was going to be an interesting breakfast.
