 The Vespa Howitzer... You would think with such great ideas the French would have done better. :wink:

I was wondering about the recoil when riding the Vespa and simultaneously firing a round.  Unh, wouldn't it likely make the scooter back up in one heck of a hurry?  Or maybe there's a ground brake/anchor that was to be deployed before firing rounds.

Judging by the design of the breech, I'd say that this is a recoiless cannon.

It looks like a part of a pack howitzer.  My father told me about them.  The ones he knew about were carried in pieces by mules.  The soldiers put them together when they got to their destination.

I think the French would want the recoil to help them "leave" the battlefield?  :?
