Inaugural or Annual

Wouldn't the first event be the "Inaugural" and the one after that be "The First Annual"? Just wondering.

By the way, I missed the event because I didn't hear about the location change. Long ride from Illinois to just turn around and head back home.

Bummer about not hearing of the change in venue.  That reminds me of World of Speed, where Nancy and I arrived at Land's End at Bville -- only to be greeted with "We tried calling you, but I guess you don't have a cellphone in your car.  The meet has been cancelled because of rain and water on the Salt."

Which incident therefore taught us to get and carry a cellphone (they were still pretty radically new up here in the way up north country back in '04).  And now we have an internet/cellphone system plug in for our laptop - so we can be online even as we're driving down the road.  We shouldn't get caught up again like we did in '04.  And you, Gabby, have unfortunately had the same kind of experience.  It might teach all of the folks in the scooter world to share phone numbers with one another so that you'll get a call from someone - telling you of the cancellation.  Unh, last time there was a cancel -- we were driving in Nebraska, on our way out west, when the sanctioning body made the decision to cancel.  Within about 15 minutes we received 6 calls from folks all over the place -- each helping to spread the word.

There's my story.  By the way -- since you posted in the El Mirage threads but seemed to refer to the motorscooter event -- so which event did you mean?

And finally - Inaugural for the first, then Second Annual for the second one.  There's my vote.

The first event is always the inagural event.  Annual thereafter.  Using "The First Annual" for anything is a bit presumptive.  Unless, of course, there is a guarantee of a second annual.

One year when Speed Week started on Sunday I flew to SLC.

As I drove past the 12 Mile marker Saturday night, a storm hit.  The meet was rained out.

Even a cell fone wouldn't have saved me that time.
