Winter Builds, Re Builds, Upgrades ?
« on: November 18, 2010, 11:14:26 AM »
Hey all you ECTA brothers and sisters, our board has been slow since the last event of our season.

What are you working on?  New Build ? Re Build ? Performance Upgrades ? Safety Upgrades ?  etc..

Share your stuff with us !!

I am working on some aero improvements to the Studebaker, as well as ideas to increase horsepower.  Also should be adding a driver cooling system and new SA2010 Helmet soon (maybe Christmas Present ??)

Hope to hear from you all.

Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

I should have the new Escort home on Sunday to start getting it squared away. More detailed plans will emerge when it's in a million pieces in the garage.

Walt, it's now confirmed that Nancy and I will be on the road, not at work, when you go through Marquette County tomorrow afternoon.  Maybe next time?

The 996 duc transformation should begin shortly.  My heavy steel chainguard is supposedly ready for pickup.  As for all the changes, I just have to decide what's first.  I would like to get a real land speed body on her asap prior to cutting down the tank and lowering the chassis.  I would also like to have data acquisition by April.  I need to determine what fuel I am going to run and get her tuned to it.  I want to upgrade the bearings and go to a 520 quick-change sprocket system by April as well.

Plenty to keep me occupied.  I may give her a quick outing this weekend at the drag strip prior to the changes getting underway.

Hi,
We had a great session on the chassis dyno, chasing our 700r4 gremlins. The trans is out, the Firebird is back in my shop (before the snow) and life is good. We'll be getting ready to greet the 2011 rule book changes - seat upgrades and all.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

I am doing a total make over .I am going over the fairings and smoothing out the front.I am making the rear body out of aluminum and cleaned up the wiring harness.

Once all that is mocked up and finished . I will tear it down and paint it. Then it is on to a motor program .I am thinking three motors .Two nitrous motors and a N/A motor to chase gas records.

I have the tank and the frame done. Now I have to finish the body work stuff. I hate sanding and dust.    :-D
Thank you to all the volunteers

Since the KIA Amy WAS racing at the mile got run over by a big ol silverado we are "forced" to start a new build. The camaro gods smiled on us with a "91 that's good and straight. The first thing that has to go are the t-tops which will facilitate the roll cage install. we are still struggling with what class to run. I still say the "82 to "92 camaro should fit the sports classes in that no full size adult I know could fit in the "back seat". see y'all in April with the new ride. :-D :-D :-D

Shame about the KIA . It was cool to see it run. Camaro will be a fun build. It should be fun to watch the progress.

Eric, Of course the new body work looks fabulous. Can't wait to see what you get donewith plenty of time. Is that plane drawing in the background pen on linen? I've seen some art quality surveys and construction/engineering plans done that way.

Ken Who has plenty of time?  :-)

That is just an old set of paper plans. From a Radio Control airplane. Most plans are done on napkins and stained with beer. :-D

Beer and napkins are a design kit you can get in the bar. Pizza boxes are like an advanced CAD program. Plus you can do 3D modeling with the Pizza box. But you still need plenty of napkins as support.

I'm working on a new turbo bike project with a GSXR 600. Raked, lowered, long frame with a Charlie Toy fairing.

Each unexpected discovery is first ridiculed, then objected to and finally considered self evident
