Maxton In Car Video October 2010
« on: November 06, 2010, 09:45:39 PM »
"Into the Sun"  is what this run should be named.

Sorry for the glare, looking out the passenger window you can see the ground go by, from inside you can see how well the car handled.. looks like the Studebaker handled the doglegs, bumps and patches quite well.  Does not look like my hands moved much until I had to make the U turn at the end of the track to head back up the return road.

164.7xxx  a new D record... Fun

(oh ya,,, turn up the volume,,, I love them SBC's when they wind up a bit)

Brother, you make that look easy.  No drama, just roll up and do it.

Of course, we all watched how it went together.  Better to have had the stress in the garage than on the track.

Congrats on the record, Charles!

Cool.   I turned up my volume and it felt like I was there with you.  I see your hands didn't leave the steering wheel at the end, didn't use the chute?

Gif,  I did not use the Chute on that run.  I did use the Chute on the next run, but I did not get the camera turned on for that run, there was a short track delay and I cut the camera off and then when I hit the shutter on button, I had my gloves on and I guess it did not depress the button well enough... All future runs at Maxton will use the Chute.. I could smell my brakes on that run.  The next run using the chute was so smooth in shutdown,,, either way at least I know, the car stops smooth and straight with and without the chute.

Charles--There is now a foot shaped impression in the hardwood floor under the right hand side of the computer desk. I also threw the towel over the back of the computer chair, momentarily hoping it would blossom and slow us down. All it did was startle the Dog.......Congrats on the Record--See you on the Salt!  :-D  :-D

Charlie ... no chute?    Did you suffer the wrath of Turk?

Joe,   I guess at the end of the video you saw Turk driving up ? I was not sure why he was in such a hurry to drive down and congratulate me on my record in long shutdown,,,LOL

But when I got out of the Car, I quickly found out he was not there to high five me for a record run...

I did not post the "lecture" portion at the end of the tape.

But yes he did "explain"  his thoughts on my future Chute usage.....

I have experienced the "Wrath of Turk" as well.  There is a lot at stake and we all get lost in our own racing without seeing the big picture. I admire the job that Joe and Keith do at Maxton. Without them there would not be LSR in NC.
