Remember, at El Mirage (and Bonneville), your car has to be what you say it is.

Mr BACK, You need to practice what you preach.

You claim one of your Hot Rods is a MERCURY and it's at least eight years older than the very first Ford produced Merc.

 WTF?

You're as bad as Blue explaining how he stopped using the term 60 years ago and yet he's  only 48.

The Torpedo Salon was built by the same company that supplied the "Mercury" Model T speedster bodies in the '20's.  Got the patent plate to prove it.

Was the Torpedo Salon built by the Torpedo Saloon?

Probably IN the Torpedo Saloon.
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

Hey guys,

Wasn't trying to start any problems here. I believe my car passed tech several times at both Bonneville and ECTA getting this record. All I was loking for was some help with a rookie pass. Sorry if that caused any problems.

Hi Burton,

I'm not sure if a rookie pass would help you or not? If I remember correctly I believe the car is the rookie, not necessarily the driver. For instance you could have run 200+ at Elmo in a different car, but the car you will be running hasn't been proven to run on the dirt.

Anyone want to chime in on this one?

There are no rookie bikes or cars. Only drivers and riders can be rookies. In order to run at El Mirage, your first meet you will run as a rookie. You will license up the same as Bonneville. Once you've licensed up you can run anything you want...Roadster, motorcycle, lakester, truck..etc. The rating on the license has to match the record or minimum in the class you are running in. So if the record or the minimum is 151, you will need a C license even if you can only run 120. You don't have to be an SCTA member to run at El Mirage, you can run as a guest twice a year. No record, no trophy.

I will plan on showing up. I have to buy my plane tickets now to get a better deal. Anyhow, hope mother nature doesnt ruin it. Otherwise I guess a guy can rent a Harley for the weekend and ride! The wife will probably enjoy that just as much. You just get different stuff in your teeth.

Sounds like a fun idea.  November may be a wash though... too soon to tell.  Assuming good weather, I'd try to make your rookie runs in November.  Keep in mind that you don't need to re-license at El Mirage if you already hold SCTA license obtained elsewhere (B-Ville).  So, one rookie run and then you're able to run up to your existing license level.  You can run your first event as a guest and figure out the club thing for 2011.

For the bike guys: what would keep someone from running a dirt bike?  Just need to throw on some safety wire and a steering damper right?

So,

If I were to run as a guest would this qualify as a rookie pass even if I am not in a club yet?
