Texas mile no longer?
« on: October 15, 2010, 11:40:27 PM »
I have been told that the Texas Mile will be no more after this Oct event. Something about the govt buying back the strip.  Anyone else hear about this or is it just a false rumor?

That's sad to hear, that's a real nice strip. The shut down is a little short for cars like mine with rear drum brakes and weighs 4800 lbs.

See that just blows my mind ... from where I am from, you can't just "find" air strips.  Well actually, 2000' -2400' feet can be ....

Anyone ever looked at this?

The mapquest aerial doesn't look too promising, but I don't know what time of year it was shot.

Yep  been there  doesnt look promising.---There are several roads in Tx that are S of Midland Odessa that would hold more promise---would just need a local group to get be hind it---there is also a similiar strip between Levelland and Brownfield that might work guy was running drags on it.
