Jon I tried to get on the chat tonight and couldn't. I'm also using windows 98 and internet explorer.  It would start to load.  I would get a blank page and it would just hang there.  I let it sit there for over 10 minutes and it wouldn't finish loading.

Maybe just as good.  Like I told my wife, "I can type faster than my brain works" .  That can get me into trouble.

Just out of curiousity, reboot your  machine and try again and let me know the outcome...

The same thing happens.  I tried it a couple weeks ago when you first posted about it with the same results.

It starts to load and it looks like a big chat window is opening, but then it just stops.  Looks like it is about 1/3 loading (going by the load window bar) when it hangs.  It doesn't hang up the computer, it just won't finish loading the page.
