Thanks for picking up onthis Guys

Just to clarify, I do not expect to arrive and jump into a car, this is very much a fact finding trip and part of a bigger plan. The FIA (World Motorsport governing body) say that it is the passport of the driver which dictates a national lsr not the location, so yes any national lsr can be set in California or anywhere else. At the moment I race a Lola F3000 with a 550 hp sb chevy which I fitted in the back, this would be achieving 180/185 mph on the track.

Thanks for the info regarding accomodation.

I am not travelling from Ireland to California for the weekend just to get away from the wife I seriously want to gather as much info as possible
So all  advice gratefully appreciated

Let's see now.  The 911 on the dirt.  How many points does it have for starting position?  Can this year's dirt hold that horsepower?

Na -- it's too purty to get dirty.

The race director can overule the starting position and allow car to start in 200 mph lane if car is felt to be capable of
200 mph [ well some race directors].

i don't think the current race director, the current starter, or just about anybody on the lake bed would have a problem with the 911 car rolling up in the 2 lane... I bet D3 would probably help push it up!

We will be bringing 911 to the dirt in Nov. but we are really concerned about stoping its rotundness. We talked about just pulling both chutes at about the mile.

You mean the HOT ROD MAGAZINE CAMARO with rookie driver and car that we watched run out of the 200 mph line?
And we left the 222 car home because we were told to start in the back  [# 152 I believe] old race director not current.
Well now you know the rules don't apply to EVERYBODY.

Well, we all know Dave Davidson isn't a rookie.  And the car ran there last year(?) any way.  But, even with the fiberglass body, I understand it weighs more than 3000 already.  John?

Yea the cars a little hefty at 6200 lbs. and when we ran it last year they had us run out of the rookie line and"keep it under 200" .
I don't think we will look for any favors out there in Nov. and just put her in line according to our number , don't wanna piss anyone off.
However the 511 will be right up fronte in the 2 line. :-D
