Eric, That was the 243 run because that was the only run we ran as a test and it was from behind the starting line..the bike nosed over in sixth and then leaned to the left..do you have the other run where we had the camera on for several minutes before and after the run when we put it back in your trailer..it was the 223 run. BTW, Thanks again for the Welder and car usage...

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J

Don, The finish line was at the 35 second mark of the video..look for our Easy-ups on the left hand side, this pavement racing is much easier than Elmo or Bonneville, please come out next year if they have another event.. Mike Borders does it right and no salt or dirt to deal with..and guess what? TRACTION ! ! !

Don,
You have to come out and try this next time, so much easier than what you are used to.

I have been telling you guys how much of a pleasure mile racing is, easier to get back to the pits (you ride), easier to clean up (no salt/dust in your but crack and everywhere else) easier to get more runs in one day than a year at Elmo. Only thing not easier is to go faster than you do at the salt or Elmo, speeds are about the same (new APS rules/bikes at SCTA still are unknown for speed comparison)(need more info on Elmo to Mile speed, but seem close or faster at Elmo for riders that get to run on fresh track)
Mile racing is to LSR as UFC is to boxing.

I like the idea of racing on the asphalt and not having to deal with dirt or salt. But I don't see where they have any kind of sanctioning body so that racers can compete against "official" records. Any plans to have SCTA, AMA, FIM, etc sanction the event? I would drive the 1000 miles it would take to get there if I could officially compete and have records sanctioned.

Don, If you ran 230 and set a record somewhere would you trade that for a 250+ mph run and track record your first time at a "Pavement Pounder" event? John

WildBro,
John holds both Turbo and Nitrous records on the 1 mile track. He earned his ECTA 200mph Club Green Hat when he was owner of the "Tiger" a few years ago.

John, you make a good point. Cracking the 250 barrier (barrier to me not you) is a personal goal, so if it has to be "unofficial" at Mohave, I guess that would count. I will give serious thought to getting there. Don

Don, If you can run 230 from the back of the line on a chopped up el mo course you can run 250 on the pavement. Think of the Mojave mile as a track day vs. a true sanctioned time trial. I don't believe the traps are surveyed and certified. Hopefully you can bump up the track record so it isn't the slowest track record in North America!
