First Visit
« on: September 29, 2010, 11:49:34 PM »
Returned home from first trip to Maxton. Really enjoyed myself, and many thanks to all the people that helped over the weekend.  Arrived saturday morning after flying to Atlanta on friday morning, where I met up with my wife who had left Houston thursday morning towing the car. Learned a lot about the process getting through tech and attending rookie orientation saturday morning. Made first pass without a glitch running 113.8 in a 25 year old toyota!
Will be back in October to get more track time in the toyota preparing for next year when MS midget will be ready. In all a great weekend with a lot of great people.

Welcome possum. A lot of us get "wound tight" trying to wind it up.

I don't remember names real well, spoke quite a bit in the staging area to the man with the saab in production also a gentleman with a bug eye sprite. It seemed like almost everybody waved at me as I drove through the pits. A special thanks to Bill Murphy who helped with the only mechanical issue of the weekend when two bolts loosened up on the trailer hitch. Charles wanted to come and meet you in person after living vicariously through your build, but it seemed like you were on the track when I was in the pits and visaversa, will make a point of doing that in October, very nice car as I have soft spot for studes.
This weekend I had a 1985 Toyota Supra (stone stock) will bring this car back in October. My car under construction is MG Midget stretched 27 inches with a Nissan twin turbo v-6. After visiting last October I decided to basically start over on the car to make a stronger, safer race car. As in many endeavors research and preparation is the key to success.

close nit

Actually, it's close knit.  Tightly knit.

A nit is the egg of a louse or other parasitic insect -- thus nitpicking.

I LIKE "close nit"!  Or close fire-ant might be more like it.  Or close nat - we sometimes have plenty of those.  And still, it's all worth it - and the folks are great, too.

I liked the 'Yoda.  Very clean car and you looked like you were havin' fun.
