Class suggestions for English Indian?
« on: September 29, 2010, 06:28:50 AM »
Hoping to come over from England in 2012 with my 1942 Indian 741. Most parts including the frame are hand made.
Engine: Standard bottom end & gearbox/transmission. Top end, standard barrels and heads but bored out from 500cc to 598cc, with bigger inlet & exhaust valves. Indian parts Europe inlet manifold & electronic ignition, Harley Kehien carburettor. Running on petrol.
Shortened Suzuki forks, Honda wheels.
No idea what class to enter. Any help greatfully recieved.
Don't push me, I'm close to the edge.

Chris, yours is quite like mine: 650 A-VBF
( hand-made 'special' frame / Indian 741 bored to 600cc engine / IPE electronic ignition ...etc )
except mine is blown (class B) and runs on fuel ( class F )

so for Speed Week ( S.C.T.A. rules ) yours would be

500 A-VG = max. 500cc / Special build frame / vintage / gas

( side-valver's are given a 30% 'discount' on the cc )

...and for BUB ( A.M.A. rules )

650 A-VG

( no cc dicount here )

....then of cause the fact that it's "English" may put you in a special class
where you are obliged to run on warm beer.....or maybe that only goes for the rider

BTW the bike looks fantastic. I hope it goes as well as it looks !!!
Good luck !
