On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.

Hunh?  Just heard that Fogie's car threw a rod out -- and yet Pat Womack ran after him.  So -- ten-15 minute course hold now.

1768 and 992 (Skid Hedrich) yet to return run over here.  Just as well -- lots of thrashing on the 992 car, like still buttoning up a number of canopy parts and covers.  Maybe it's good we've got some time - for them to finish.

534 Rocket Science Engineering is next off the line.  Quarter mile  206.453  mile 206.762  206.368 (on cruise control), last mile 205.954, go to impound.

Is Ron Jolliffe driving #534?  Way to go, hope you can back it up.  He's the king of unblown street roadsters, this would give him the D record to go with his A and AA.  He's a Vincent guy, to boot (yeah!).

No, Ron is working as a starter on the #2 course -- we're over there now and I'm looking at him kneeling and strapping in a driver.

How do you not know that you threw a rod?  Did Fogie pull out the correct way?  It does make a loud noise when it happens.  Fogie sounds like he is being an old one.  What do I know I'm not there. grin

Already home. Left Wendover at 4 PM Thursday afternoon ran in rain all the way to Ely then spotty to Las Vegas. Home at 3:30 AM. First time the the truck/trailer will be cleaned by a much higher power than me.

I had a great big smile on my face when Patrick told me I had run 171+ in qualifying Wednesday afternoon. It has been the number I had been wanting since 1985 when we originally set the record at 162. Not too bad for a carbureted stock head GMC on expensive parts wash. grin

Only sad thing is I broke a part in my return run during shut down that we didn't have and our oldest grandson Tyler who had been thru rookie orientation was not able to take some licensing passes. He's heading to San Diego for Marine Boot Camp on the 28th and his dad Patrick and I planned a special week for him.

Great to see every one there and some great runs before we left and to have bumped up the record again.....

Good Luck to all.........................Tone Motorsports

Keep an ear open for bike 7965 on the #2 short course -- that'll be Nancy, leaving in about one minute.
