I'm doing my best to make is a good event -- with no weather issues.  I've got my "barn boots" -- rubber boots about a foot tall -- packed in the trailer.  I understand that if I didn't have 'em I'd likely need them -- so by having them right there and easily available -- it won't be wet, right?

See you on the salt!

That is exactly the way I look at it too!

The section from Payson through Lehi is under massive reconstruction.  Time of day is important.  Some sections narrow to two lanes during the day.  The morning drive time from 7:00 to 10:00 is a great time to stop and have a leisurely breakfast.  There's no road work on I-15 in the SLC valley or going west on I-80.

They usually stop the construction on Sunday so you just have the orange cones to deal with.  There are some sections where there is an unexpected lane shift and a merge.  That almost did in a friend last week.

Why would you take the 15 outa Vegas to SLC when the 93 or the 93/318 is quicker (and you can go to Pioche!)?

Glen, we're flying from LV to SLC  --  Don't expect to find road construction in the air.  Staying at a motel near the airport Sunday night (arrive SLC about midnight) and driving tyo Wendover Monday morning - we'll get the by 9.30 and the toilets are scheduled to arrive around ten.

Good pooping to all of you.  See you on the salt.

Stan, Salt Lake City, not Bonneville. Going through Pioche adds 100 miles and a couple hours. Are you going to Finals? Wayno

So whoever get's there first, post up sky conditions. We should be locked and loaded by Sunday, departure around noonish from the Bay Area on Monday after I run away, I mean "escape" work early.  grin

Slim- Are you going to create a WF thread also?  All the folks at home are tuning in on Wednesday for your and Ray's "Play by Play" action and color commentary.

Steve:

Yes, I intend to have some World Finals "reporting" on the website - a la World of Speed and Speedweek.  We're not running our bike - but have been offered a ride on the Gixxer 1000 of a friend, and we'll be crewing for her and her guy.  He's the one that bumped the PP1000 record at WoS, and he'll be back with the BMW S1000 hoping to up the number a little bit more.  He's got the red hat fever now -- ran a strong 196++ on his second run of the record and sees the Club in the distance.  I looked on line and don't see a minimum for the200 MPH Club in that class - so all he needs (note I said "all") is another 4 mph or so.  Hey -- maybe he'll have found enough extra power that the bike picks up six or seven mph, in which case I'll ask him to sandbag a little and let Nancy make some runs on it - so she can finally get hers, too.

Whatever -- our duties at WF might keep the continuous posting, like I did at the Shootout, down -- but I will be trying to post what I can.  And Dan Warner has offered to work with Ed Safarik (SCTA website guy) to get me the daily run logs.  Being able to post them without undue hassle will be good for all.

See you on the salt!

Elmo--

Hope to.

I just like Pioche (and Caliente and Major's Corners and Cathedral Gorge{?}).

Plus going one way and coming home another -- usually Tonopah, but this year the Bristlecone Forest.  Slow going with the trailer, but the miles were about the same as Tonopah-Bishop or Cottontail-Lone(Big?) Pine.

This a cautionary note to anyone who considers following Stan's routes.

Not so much on the way up, but his return routes indicate to yrs truly that some survival training, plenty of spare gas, H2O. snakebite kits, etc. should be considered. And possibly even  protection from communicable disease of one sort or another.

Havin' to miss WF for 1st time in 8 yrs. Bummer.

Race safe, race fast, and stay DRY!
