I'm home, sick as a dog in bed, missing all the starting line fun, feeling sorry for myself.
Keith called me yesterday and told me that they shut down at 5:30 because there were no more racers !!
Our junk broke in Loring.
What is going on with everyone else ?

Be safe, go fast, have FUN !

Charles went 154 mph on his shake down run ... a new E record ... his push off was picture perfect ...

Joe,  thanks for all your help this weekend.  Also great job staging me and pushing me at the start. That Chevy truck of yours got the Stude out of the hole good.

Tell Tom it was nice meeting him as well,

Oh for the RECORD... the shakedown run was 158.6xxx  and it did set the record 18mph over the previous record
(oh the Little "E" motor has more in it.)

On the next run after the lunch break it was much hotter, Joe your push was even better and between the 5/8 mile bump and the 3/4 mile mark, my GPS read 166 mph and charging,, then the throttle cable broke and whew !!! what a unexpected rush when the butterfly snapped closed like that,,, well the chute did it job and I pulled to the right out of the race groove and took short shutdown (I had no idea what happend till I got out of the car and looks things over)

I was pissed,, a $1 part cost me a 170+ run..  oh well that's racing.

Thanks to all the track crews and volunteers.  Also Thanks  John Shell, Hooley Huffman, Eric (racer X) Terry Russell and Lawson, and Joe and Tom Daly,

My crew was back at the RCR and Rod Crafters car show and open house, and all these guys above stepped up to help me,, Thanks.

See you all in October,,

Charles

Crow,

Yes the previous Record was mine from 2008 with the Vicky.... it was 140.xxx  with the same E motor. the Vicky was and is still not able to make a full throttle pass, it gets "a bit" of a handfull on the bumps and patches.

The Stude has the 2008 "E" Motor from the Vicky (all we did was go from and automatic to a 4 speed and change the cam)  I guess the Studebaker is more aerodynamic and has much better suspension.. (ya think )  Same motor put 18 mph on the record on a soft shake down pass,,, oh what a nice debut run for the Stude at Maxton.

Glen,  yes you are right Sh#t happens,,,, I was in such a rush packing the new trailer, I did not load any spare parts or nuts and bolts etc... just tools, compressor, fluids, tape, jack, jack stands, plugs and plug wires etc.. Oh well, now I have a month to pack the trailer properly. (why did I need all them tools if I forgot all my extra parts ??)  LOL

Seat time is good, all I can say is driving the Stude vs the Vicky is night and day.  The Vicky is very fun and has a cool factor off the charts,, but the Stude is a purpose built race car with modern chassis and suspension,, oh better aero does not hurt either.

The Stude is a better looking car in person than even those great pics, Charles  Congrats on the new record, I can't wait to see it run at Loring. It was fun, see you in the spring.

Charles that's where a white board in the trailer becomes a TOOL as well. None of us can remember everything. I have to leave notes to myself on the cell phone when on the road etc. Oh, and remember to look at it when I get to "B".

Glen, I have  Two   3ft x 4ft white boards in the shop.
I am normally very organized and structured, but this past week was to much going on at the last minute, I never went to shop 2 where the checklist is,,, I loaded what I could see  and took off,, ya know how that happens.

I will have a white board checklist in the shop, a redundant white board in the trailer and a printed checklist on a clip board and then a copy on my phone too.... This WILL NOT happen again ( I hope LOL)

I am not going to let a $1 fitting stop my racing again.... (it may be a $2 part next time,,,LOL)

Nothing official yet, I do know that Randy Smith set the record a few times on his Turbo Push Rod 750 was 109.xxx now I think 129.xxx... The Eric (racer x) upped the 250 record I think to 121.xxx  then hit the juice agin and blew up.  Jarl on another 250 was hot lapping and set a few records.  Roy Brooks finally got in the 2 Club on his bike Saturday morning.

I am no SSS, Ray the Rat, or 55Chevr, not good at reporting, just a few runs I remember.

Deb and Donna normally have the run logs up pretty quick,

It was hot and sticky, but also sparsely attended. The wet stuff stayed away until 1pm Sunday. By 11am , there was almost no one in line. Joe was calling for people, begging.

Congrats to Roy Brooks who got into the 200 club naked on motor, ZX14, sorry I missed the hat ceremony. You're racking up the hats these days

Eddie Powell also got in the ECTA 2-club with a turbo Busa SIDECAR - no small task. Big balls. Congrats, he's been running high 190s for a while.

Todd Dross secured the 2010 ECTA points championship for Scott Guthrie Racing with a 169 pass on the NA Busa sidecar. WTFG.

Eric RacerX toasted plugs (at least) spraying his Ninja 250 but looked happy with 121.

Jarl Walthe (sp) also sprayed for the first time, and went 125 on his single cylinder altered 250, congrats.

Josh Owen went 212 on Debbie Dross' stock motor nitrous Busa, faster than the bike has ever been at Maxton.

Debbie ran 119 on a new Triumph standard (1200?) faster than the bike (Ken Presson's) has ever been.

Don Haas went 236 on his beautiful turbo GSXR1000, the fastest 1000 on the mile anywhere, huge congrats. Ran 234 twice as well.

We struggled a little with chassis issues on the naked Guthrie H2 Busa, but made a bunch of passes between 225 and 235, with a best of 239, top speed of the meet. I had a great time, looking forward to trying again with a few changes and cooler weather next month.
