Here's a "Headsup" for The Salt Lake area roads: Thursday afternoon, the road resurfacing in West Valley was awful. Complete rotomill and fresh asphalt work in progress. It appears to not be a problem at the present. Jim http://www.utahcommuterlink.com/

I just talked with Mike Akatiff. They've installed a gear that would have run WAY over 400 in 5th. They're gonna run it in 4th, since it's the 4-5 shift that's been a problem. They've completed warming the motors, the skins are on and it's being loaded on the hauler....more...

...they're gonna put in position and wait for a wind opportunity (well, lack thereof) and go for the whole enchilada. Ack said he didn't come here to go home saying to himself, "I wish we'd tried...."

...since Mike is a car guy...he doesnt realize you can reduce frontal area by about 1/4-1/3 by leaning forward and getting your freakin head DOWN....
He could stick his head into the fairing/windsheild, don't think it against the rules for him, even if it is, people seem to brake this rule a lot on the salt. Bill

Ack Attack bike is at the start line now for the Hail Mary attempt. Nancy and I went to drop off our trailer (during the past half hour) and that's why no reports. So -- Ray's got it right, they've put on a sprocket that'll give them 385 at redline in fourth gear. Rocky's been starting off the truck in second, so now he'll use first through fourth and see if it'll run. This run will tell us what's left in the year for the team. If they do okay -- there's likely a return run right soon. If it doesn't go well -- hey, that's racing.
Wind is very good -- low and not gusting. Stay tuned.

We're locked down and Rocky is getting into the bike. Wind is great -- ready to run. Engines running.
Bike is running, bike is moving.
YEE-hah, he got it a little sideways and tipped right and got it back and is going okay now. Not winding the engines too high, it sounds.
Entry speed 360.3 kilo 366.6 mile 366.7 exit 373.8
