Tiny, you are so right and the hard work he has put in with the results are his and the crews rewards. Just think we will be there again next week for the world finals. They deserve a great big hand shake from everyone on the salt.

There is nothing to clarify about a 1% rule for FIM records.  There ain't no such requirement.  A thousandth of a mph and km/hr is enough.

Sure is relaxed frantic-ness in the Ack pit.  Freshen the water in the tank at front, looking at battery charge, tweak the tuneup on the laptop and put it into the bike, Rocky himself is packing the chute -- you all know the drill, but add the tension of an FIM record and being oh-so close -- and you've got it.  Sorry you aren't here in person - I'll do what I can to share the fun with you.

Thank you SSS,
I believe the 1 % rule was established (at least at the BUB Meet) to prevent riders from making (Glory) returns when they were not even close to the record.

The Ack Attack bike engines are running in the pit/on the transporter.  They're working on getting the cover on the bike.  They're sure going to give it one heck of a try to get the record, and if they fall short -- they'll sure as heck be able to hold gtheir heads up high for at least having given it every possible try.  Best wishes to them, right?

Engines are now off and they'll move the bike to the start line (as close as they can get to the freeway).  By the way, I mentioned that Rocky got the bike a bit sideways on his first leave -- he said that the truck and bike didn't separate right and the truck kicked the back of the bike left.  I'd guess it takes a rider with lots of time in a 'liner to be able to drive through something like that and not get so flustered that he can't finish the run.

Man, am I ever glad that the whole crew can deal with getting back to work Monday a little late, and a little tired.
Hope most are self- employed or with understanding folks in this great industry.(SPEED)

In the meantime -- Bobby Cleveland just put down some big numbers for a lawnmower -- faster, in fact, than Mike Cook's diesel pickup.  Cleveland ran entry 94.0  kilo 96.6  mile  96.1   exit 96.7

Cook's truck will go 93 -- he's got timing slips for that.  Embarrassing, hey -- big truck gets beat by lawnmower. . .

Ack engine is running.

The engines are off, they're hooking the truck to the transporter and getting set to tow to the start line.  Still have plenty of time -- more than 45 minutes or so.  The lawnmower is on a one-hour turnaround -- they've got about the same time left.
