Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Well, thanks to the very much appreciated kindness of you folks, I've been able to get American Airlines to switch our flight home from tomorrow to Sunday.  That means we'll be here all day to provide coverage of the Ack Attack and Speed Demon's runs.  Thanks for all of the $$ -- helps us cover the cost of changing flight reservations.

About a half-hour - forty-five minutes 'til the 757 Camaro is ready to run, and then they'll be thinking about making laps for a while -- as long as they've got the course and the tower will let 'em do it.

Nish car is going into the trailer for the trip back to SLC.  Now that we're shut down for a while I'll go over there.

Thanks again for helping us provide entertainment for you.  Sorry that now I'll be messing up your Saturday. . .

Could Spirit of Rett and Speed Demon be any closer in speed!!!   shocked

1/10 of a mile an hour at 422 MPH is unreal.

RTR and SSS  GREAT JOB!!  Someday, when I grow up or at least my checking account does, I hope to be one of the subjects of this forum, but until then I'll have to settle for an "intimate" relationship with my F-5 key.

New subject:
Not to put toooo fine a point on it (we are doing this to elevendy hundred decimal places after all) but one shouldn't get to "comparitive" about FIA speeds vs. Speedweek speeds.  Part of the reason for the plus 400 speeds is a five mile run up vs. a four mile run up.  FIA "Entry" speeds are basically Speedweek's "backdoor".

And don't get me wrong 400+ is still 400 plus even if they took the whole 12 miles to do it  (They'd have stop pretty fast though).  Haulin' the mail in any book.

Again, thanks R & S and to all the "lurkers" who contribute their wisdom and wiseFord remarks.

Keep the shiny side up,

The funnels my favourite bit of the ice rig... very technical bit of kit that probably gets put back down on the side of the course when the packing is done Smiley

barnyard Jim is correct on the distance leading to the timing traps. The other thing that has been discussed is the one hour turn around time for cars and 2 hours for bikes. Does seem very odd that with today vehicles some with multiple engines that the one hour is really not enough time to safely check things out and make the turn around.

I agree with Glen on the one hour turnaround from a safty point of view.
I hate to see someone have to rush anything when we are dealing with these kinds of speeds.

The Nish car is going home because they hurt the drive shaft on the return run yesterday.  I've said this before -- just confirmed it with TJ.  Ray and I were over at their pit for the certificate ceremony -- I'll let him post his photos of Terry and Mike and the entire team getting those important papers.

We're sorta on break, although the 757 Camaro just ran 251 entry, 253 kilo, 252.9 mile, and 253 exit.  Having fun at the Salt!!!!!

Lunch is served at the Top One Oil pit -- we're headed that way after I take off my pants.

415 mph sounds pretty professional to me. Besides, it cuts down on what you have to bring.  cheers

Short change your maintenance procedures and it can cost you a lot of change.

Could the reason for 2 hours on bikes for cool down back in the old days?

Good news about Saturday Jon! Didn't plan on doing much anyway.

Tom

P.S. You can tell I'm not a motorcycle person so forgive the dumb question.

I thought that was about the koolest (no ice pun intended) things of the whole turnaround.  I loved it when I saw it and started snapping.
