Scott Horner just ran.  The fire truck tire is fixed.  Scott's speeds were hard to hear but I'll get a repeat in a minute-- was busy meeting Ron, a guitar player in the Charlie Pride band -- who's out here right now for a lookie-see.

Scott's speeds were 216 entry, 215 kilo,  219  mile.

Shoulda had a camera -- a Tooele county sheriff car tried crossing from the freeway to the track -- and got it stuck in the mud.  He got out thanks to a tug from Mike cook, which is really surprising since Cook got a written warning from the po-lice earlier today.  He's out, whatever.

In other news, here are the Speed Demon ratios -- rear, QC, and trans.  Ian, the Speed Demon self-proclaimed nerd, is watching the coverage of the event on this website and just walked over with a sheet of figures for youse guys.

Just a note to thank all of you for your outstanding efforts to keep us "homeboys" up to date on what is going on. I also want to thank everyone for their kind words and emails about the Nearburg car. Most of you know that I designed and built the car in my barn, ran it until I had my back fused, sold it to Earl Wooden who got in the three Chapter and then sold it to Charles Nearburg. Two great guys who started searching for the cars potential.
I am humbled and proud. The car has exceeded my expectations.

That's PROBABLY the end of things for today.  Speed Demon got the engine (347" turbo) running earlier -- likely will run first thing in the morning -- 8AM forecast.

By the way, the turbo issue on the small (299") engine was an oiling issue -- with improper placement of the return line meaning that oil backed up into the bearing of the turbo, bypassed into the hot side, got coked, then would cause the failure.  I think I got that right -- Ian gave me the story.  He'll probably check this and come scold me for not listening carefully enough.  Whatever -- they've found the problem.  It's from the windage tray's placement.

Hey Ray, where do I find the "auto-refresh" plug-in for Firefox? I have checked add-ons, downloads, extensions, and plug-ins with no joy. I'm getting a stiff neck looking from the bottom of the page (the last post) to the top for a refresh in IE.
